When your team plays fundamentally sound basketball, you always feel as though you have a chance. When they hardly ever do, you feel that you could lose to anyone on any given night.
Knowledgeable FSU basketball fans know this reality all too well. It doesn't matter how many impressive wins you reel off, or how many future first round draft picks you have on your team, you know what's coming, and it's because of the brand of basketball we play.
At times, it literally looks like we don't have one player who understands their position/role/job on the court. I could take it apart one player at a time, but it would be extremely harsh, and I won't do that to college kids.
Ham is a glorified recruiting coordinator and an overall good guy. The coaching is so obviously poor, and anyone who steps to his defense just doesn't know the game. Nothing else can be said for them, and no one should engage in a debate with someone living in that fantasy.
We just try to out-athlete and hustle (at times) everyone. Sometimes it works, and we are able to drag the other team down to our brand. This is how we beat good times sometimes, and Ham has made a career out of it. Having said that, the specified pregame prep that obviously is almost non-existent, along with the utter lack of awareness on both sides of the court always wins out in the end.
I would imagine the fact that the guy lets a whole bench of suited gentlemen coach the team for him has an overall negative impact on our consistency. The proof is in the pudding.
