5:50 p.m. Update: Jimbo said WR George Campbell is still not healed from the core muscle surgery he had last season. He's not ruling him out for camp, but he said they don't yet know how much he'll be able to do.
He said it's not Campbell's fault. Some guys just don't heal as fast as others. Said he knows George is frustrated but that he's doing everything he can in rehab.
Will have more on this later in a notebook, and Jimbo also discusses in the video, which will be posted as soon as it's uploaded. Taking a while with the wifi here.
4:50 p.m. Update: We'll have more videos and stories coming shortly. Had really good breakout interviews with Derwin James, Deondre Francois and Jimbo Fisher.
Also, just spoke with Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl CEO Gary Stokan, who says they are considering selling standing-room only tickets for the FSU-Alabama game. Not sure how many more tickets that would make available, but shows the incredible demand.
Today's schedule:
10 a.m. Commissioner's Forum (video)
11 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Atlantic Division Interviews (video below)
- 1:51-2:20 p.m. ET: FSU press conference (Fisher, James & Francois)
- 2:06-3:20 p.m. ET: FSU with the print media (replay later)
4:30 p.m. Officiating Forum
Tweets of interest:
Live video from Atlantic TV press conference (not as detailed as print media interviews)
Florida State press conference with TV media
3:05 p.m. Update: Jimbo Fisher says DB Marcus Lewis will transfer
12:40 p.m. Update:
FSU players and Fisher are finishing up some radio and TV interviews. Will be heading our way soon.
There wasn't any crazy news from the Commissioners' Forum, but here are some highlights:
* Swofford said the ACC is moving ahead with "excitement and optimism" with the ACC Network. Said he can't provide any financial particulars. It wouldn't be "prudent." But he said they are right on or ahead of schedule.
* Swofford summed up the last year by stating it could be the most successful year the ACC has ever had, winning national championships in football and basketball.
* Swofford says the ACC is deeper and tougher than ever. Argues this could be the hardest year ever to win the ACC.
* Swofford says retired official Ron Cherry will serve as an adviser to officials within the ACC. He even made a joke about the "Giving him the business" line.
* Swofford was asked about Notre Dame. Says ND has not asked about football membership but if so, they'd have that talk.
* He said the NCAA is considering a 14-week schedule, with an extra bye week. He said the coaches in the ACC support it, but don't want to move practice up earlier.
* Said division realignment in the ACC hasn't been discussed in several years.
9:20 a.m. Update
------------------
Ryan S. Clark, Ryan Kelly and I are up in Charlotte, N.C., for the ACC Kickoff media event, which begins this morning. We'll be posting updates here throughout the day.
The first main event is the Commissioners' Forum with John Swofford, where he gives a state-of-the-conference speech and we get to ask a few questions. That's at 10 a.m. Then the player and coach interviews will begin.
Jimbo, Derwin and Deondre are scheduled to meet with the media shortly after 1, but we might get some time around them before that. Either way, we'll be posting updates right here all day. So check back when ya can.
