After 2013 why did ESPN do everything they could to destroy Florida States reputation? Was this a plan?

Seemed like ESPN had a plan to just bash Florida State every chance they got! It was really before 2013 and even during the Bowden years! They wanted the Noles to fall off top! And I guess I can see why. It helped UGA and Auburn and those schools get to the elite status! Back in the late 90s early 2000s everyone had something Florida State!
