Wow, this one slipped by my attention. Hate it. Always loved Unser, Foyt, Mears, Andretti, Rutherford and all of those other Indy guys from my youth. In the old days the race was never show live….had to stay up until 11:30 PM for the “replay.” RIP.

Glad to know there is at least one other racing fan on here. 👍

Who was the racing family with the Albuquerque facility?

Having worked part time in a dealership that sold Chrysler/Dodge products, it was always fun to hear those Hellcats and Scatbacks start up on the lot and back in the service department. I still just smile at those wannabee Mustangs whining up to a red light. 😈

Unsers.

When I was a young man, the raging muscle car debate involved Chargers, Barracudas, Mustangs and Olds 442s. The latter was always my personal favorite.

Jeep also makes some ridiculous rocket-like Cherokee that pushes 2OO MPH, and which costs $140,000+. Slick trick, but not for me.

The Jeep has a 700 HP engine from Dodge/Chrysler. We couldn't keep them in stock.
Hubby had a 442 convertible in college. Got about 8mpg. But it went fast!

My dad grew up in Indianapolis moved to Florida for his career but had these fantastic seats right across from pit row at the Indy 500 he took me three times. Impressive. He went every year

At the 1982 race Gordon John cock beat Rick mirrors by maybe 16 seconds. Loved watching those guys smoking tires trying to get out of the pit and race it out. Everybody was standing.

Before he passed I asked him if he could give me the tickets in his will but he said he couldn't do it because a group of tickets was owned by his best friend

At Gary and I hope this works because I have spent 15 minutes trying to to message you or even post a picture so I share this b******* but the apps block each other. Or limit what you can post. If I could only post a picture my Christmas early present yesterday I haven't seen him for a year and I will probably see him for another year

Cool. Your unit? Your Dads?

Gary thank you for this post. First I will say that this photo shows how beautiful Indy cars were in those days. I was lucky enough to attend the 500 in 83-Little Al’s first 500. This was the race when Jr ran interference for Sr as Tom Sneva ran them down. Great racing - Sneva got by and won. Jr was a chip off the block but Big Al has the 4 time winner legacy.

Tom Sneva...the 200 mph man.

I actually got to meet Al Sr. After the Indy race here the year Kenny Brack went into the backstretch fence.
We all went to Macroni Grill here in Grapevine and were at the bar waiting for a table. All of a sudden Al and his wife walk up to order a drink and wait for their table. I was wearing my Skip Barber racing school tshirt. His wife look at me and asked " Did you graduate from Skip Barber?" I said yes and she pointed at Al and said "He didn't". Had a great laugh and talked about Kenny Breck and if he was OK. Al was on the IndyCar race board and said he is OK.
I'm only 5'6" and he must have been 2 inches shorter than me. Lol. I met Mario Andretti and he is shorter than me too.
Racing has gotten pretty antiseptic as the cars have gotten faster.
Glad there are a few racing fans on here.

How do you upload a photo? Why is it such a pain in the ass and why can't I just upload from my phone?

I put pictures on a couple different websites and every time I try to insert the image and paste the link it says image cannot be uploaded from the passed link.

Thanks in advance

Grew up watching Mario Andretti rabbit the Indy 500 every year only to have some sort of terrible problem with his car.
