Was 100% done with a clear intent to injure. It was the very picture of a dirty hit, even LSU fans on their board are saying it was dirty. It's insane that this play carries the same penalty/consequences as a targeting call that was clearly incidental.
The typical targeting call should be 10 or 15 yards with no ejection. Gay, or the other rare players who do what he did, should be suspended for three or four games.
