We're voting on (mostly) the best players of the past 30 years. Simmons and Biletnikoff/Sellers will be exceptions on the team.
This got me thinking: My first memories of FSU football rally began in 1987 when the first of my 3 brother's began attending FSU. I vaguely remember my father going nuts when Sammie Smith's TD run against UF was called back in the pouring rain in '86, but '87 coincidentally was when it began for me. (Also coincidentally, one of us was in school there until I graduated in 2001...thus one of us was enrolled for the entire Dynasty...maybe one of us should go get another graduate degree for good luck!). We've been spoiled. I've read McGrotha's books, but I'm likely one of the few from my generation and those younger.
Any interest in voting on an All Pre-Dynasty 'Nole team?
In the process it would be interesting to hear the old stories and educational to learn about the history of FSU--even for Bowden's years of 1976-1986. Many have likely forgotten Octoberfest, our Orange Bowl teams against Oklahoma, block party with Joe Weasel, classic games with ASU, beating Kentucky and thing Bama, etc.
Would love to hear (and see clips) of great old-time 'Noles, games, and defining plays while the program was still getting established.
Here's my stab at some positions:
QB: Gary Huff, Jimmy Jordan, Wally Woodham
RB: Greg Allen, Larry Keys
WR: Ron Sellers, Fred Biletnikoff, Hassan Jones, Weegie Thompson
DT: Ron Simmons...some guys named the 4 Horsemen my Dad used to rave about?
DB: JT Thomas, does Martin Mayhew count?
Kicker: Bill Capece
Punter: Rohn Stark
