Second year doing our charity scramble. Last year was put together at the last minute and wasn't really that great. Although we raised a decent amount of money from sponsors.

4 man scramble at the local course.

Anybody got any great tips or idea's for these.

I host one annually for scholarships for my school. It took a few years to get going good. The 1st 3 years we cleared between 4-5K each year. The last few years we have raised 10k, then 13.5K and 19K last year. The key is playing a good course, give good door prizes and get sponsors. We started off just doing $125 hole sponsors but have started having different levels of sponsors from the $125 hole sponsor all the way up to $5K sponsors whose sponsorship takes care of advertisement, winning teams prizes and other major expenses. Other sponsor levels may take care of the meal, snacks, door prizes etc. The sponsors are where your major profit will come from.

You will never raise money from the golf unless you have some big names people are willing to come see.

The real money comes from the sponsorship. Sell as many of those as you can. That's free money and the only outlay is a few dollars for the signs. Raffles can be good money if you can get some really good prizes donated. If you do get some good prizes donated silent auction may even be better if you have the time after the event (lunch or dinner that most people will stay for). The ones I have run we raffle off the lesser items that are donated as most people will pay a few dollars at sign in for that and then do silent auction after for larger items. When you get people bidding against each other and reminded that its for a good cause you are usually gonna get more for the items.
