I've been looking at it. I would want it for the Heart Rate and exercise and other features but I don't really like the sport band. Anyone have it? Have you used it for work-outs. Have you liked it?

I was thinking of that....perhaps the fibt charge..it has lots of features just short of the Apple watch. Wondered if I'd stay satisfied if I had just a taste of caller id and such.

My biggest issue w/ the Apple Watch (and I think all of these types of devices) is it's necessary to be close to the phone. It can't act independent from a wifi connection w/ your phone.

The perfect watch would be able to give you email notifications, text messages, phone call IDs and stream your music even if your phone is still at home, in your car or in a locker somewhere.

It's useless until they add a stand alone gps feature

This is my thought. I really like the idea of the Apple Watch, but I want it to at least be able to do a few useful things other than tell time with my phone somewhere else. For me, the watch has to be able to do the following no matter where my phone is to work.

Send me text notifications (Not required, but would be cool if I could respond via voice).
Send me notifications of other apps I configure such as email and facebook messages and let me read them. (Would be cool to be able to respond via voice, but not required).
At the very least allow me to store some mp3's for playback via bluetooth. Would be nice to also allow streaming such as spotify or itunes radio.
GPS should function and allow navigation and workout apps to both provide directions and track your running/biking/etc... for use.

If the watch is able to do just those things without having the phone right there I think it would be a great device. Until I can use it without the phone, its just a novelty to me.

Big issue should also be battery life. Fitbit will work for up to 5 days on a single charge and is not obtrusive.

My sister just got one, she was telling me about it when she visited a couple of weeks ago. Nothing she described about it sounded like it was very worth while.

One thing the Fitbit can do that the Apple Watch doesn't seem really able to do due to the battery limitations is sleep monitoring. Fitbit does that just fine.

Add to that FitBits cost much less than the cheapest Apple Watch, seems like a no-brainer.

I can't stand to sleep with a watch on my arm, so as long as it lasts all day, I'm ok with needing to charge it overnight.

Having to take it off to charge it everyday and taking it off every night are two different things IMO. Nice not to have more more thing to charge every day.

I have the original Samsung Gear and it is cool to be able to see your text messages on it when in a meeting or something without having to pull out your phone.

One of the new Gears I thought had their own nano Sim card so it doesn't need to be near your phone and use bluetooth to get texts snd phone calls and i believe offers 4 gb of storage for music without being near phone. I haven't completely researched it but I think i had heard an acquaintance mention some of these features to a friend of mine.

I tried the pebble but the constant buzzing notifications on my wrist drove me nuts. I have a Fitbit to track my activity and love it. Holding off buying the Apple watch until someone comes out with a killer app

I'm using the Pebble now. I wanted a basic activity tracker, but not to be seen obviously wearing one. Also wanted a watch. The most limiting thing is just like the others...it's just an extension of the phone which you have to have with you. Getting the text messages on my wrist has been convenient a handful of times in the three weeks I've had it (once in a driving rainstorm and it was nice not to have to take the phone out), but overall, it's not a life changer. 90% of my day, my phone is sitting next to me on a desk or table, so it's just not that big a deal.

But I like it as a watch in general, and I like the very basic activity tracking and sleep monitoring, anything else is just bonus. I got the Steel version for $80 on CL, and it was worth it to me after not finding an activity tracker that I really liked as a watch in that price range.

I'm intrigued by the Moto 360 because it has the heart rate monitor, especially at $150, but that's still too much considering that it doesn't add all that much to my quality of life. But it's on my radar.

I know, you can now look douchey AND have everyone looking at you know that you got a text.

In the case of some of the watches, the name will pop up too (At least it does on my gear fit, and it drives me nuts in meetings)

I've had apple watch for a month now and like it more than I thought I would. Battery hasn't come close to being an issue for me. I like being able to go for a run and only need wireless earbuds and no phone. Keeps all workout data but biggest downside is with no gps distance isn't accurate. I ran 4 miles the other day and watch said I did 4.3. But can listen to music and even use apple pay without phone.

It's 4:00 and I have 79% battery right now. Really like for working out, text messages, calendar, weather and checking scores.

But then it's just a tiny iPhone on your wrist. I don't think they can make em that small yet.

So where is the music "stored" when you don't have your phone with you?
