Anyone using Google Fi?

I just received my invite last night. The research I have done indicates the service is very good, and I am going to make the move.

The "Basics", which include unlimited talk & text I believe is $20 per month. From there you pay $10 per GB per month. If you lock in at say 5GB but only use 3.5, they credit back your unused amount. If you go over, they charge you the extra at $10 per GB.

I signed up for the Basics plus 2GB, plus I am financing the phone at about $23 per month, and my total will be $63 per month. I am not sure about "taxes & fees" yet. The phone I chose was the Google Nexus 6P, 64GB LTE. There are only 2 phones that work on the network, the Nexus 6P and the Nexus 5.

You can request one from the site. I'll see if I get invites from signing up.

You can go to the Project Fi site and request an invite, same process they used for Google Glass. I requested an invite about a month ago and received the invite on Monday night.

My only real concerns with it are the data networks they're partnered with and the limitation to Nexus phones only. Sprint and T-Mobile are not known for having the highest quality networks. I do like the pricing approach and think it could be very disruptive to cell phone pricing processes.

I hear ya. I can roll the dice on it. I'm currently using metropcs ($61/mo). I use 1.5G data per. My current phones about to bite it, plus it only came with 1G of space for apps. So I will have to buy a phone outright anyway with metro. So at $40/mo plus the cost of the phone it's a push. Factor in a credit for unused data and it might be a win.

I don't think i talk on a phone enough to notice a drop or increase in quality.

Three phones...I have 6 (Thanks DMM). Good pricing, less than 1/4 of my current bill, and coverage. I may be looking to change.

Why is Project Fi only available on the Nexus 6P, Nexus 5X and Nexus 6?
These devices are the first smartphones that supports our network of networks. They work with the Project Fi SIM card, which supports multiple cellular networks, and a state-of-the-art cellular radio tuned to work across network types

If it really is sprint and T mobile then their coverage map is a load of crap. I put in my in law's address to check and it shows full coverage and I can tell you right now you'd have to be on top of a telephone pole to get sprint or t mobile at their house on a good day. I have literally never received any kind of T mobile signal at their house under any circumstances.

I'm sure it's fine in cities, etc. though.
