We're going to a fundraising gala at the University of Kentucky this evening. I have a tux. It's just not been cleaned and pressed since the last time I wore it. I also do not like wearing it. With the patent leather shoes, I look like a bass player in some horrible early '60's r & b band.

I was going to go with a black suit, white shirt, and black tie. I think that would be sufficient and dressy enough for a mid week fundraiser at an on-campus event, right? Otherwise I'm looking at having to leave work early at then sweet talking and/or threatening someone to clean and press my tux while I wait.

This just dawned on me a little while ago that I might be under dressed and I can't get a hold of my girl to ask her just how formal this thing is.

My wife and I attended the FSU gala last Fall. There was a smattering of tuxes, but also some sport coats. Mostly dark or black suits. You should be fine.

I know its Kentucky, but you should update your wardrobe from the light blue tux to a black one. but keep the hat.
