Will be flying to Phoenix and staying in Scottsdale for 10 days. I plan to hit Sedona, the Grand Canyon and Page. Any advice on excursions, best deals, places to eat, and overall experiences will be greatly appreciated. I'm taking my 15 year old daughter and it's both our 1st time in the southwest. Tentatively planning on 2 days in Sedona, 2 days at the Grand Canyon and 1 in Page. The rest of the time will be in the city. Thanks!

hiking in Oak Creek Canyon. The scenic drive from Phoenix up to Flagstaff to the oak creek park is very nice.

Also, not sure the current condition of Lake Powell, but it was awesome when we went... almost 10 years ago now ???!! yhikes.

You can take the train from Williams up to the Grand Canyon.
When the sun goes down in Sedona, you want to be facing east, not west. It lights up all the red rock formations. The restaurant at the airport which is up on top of a mesa (great views going up) was very good when we were there 10 years ago.
The drive from Sedona up Oak Creek canyon is scenic and the Navajos usually set up their market near the top of the drive. Lots of Nat. American jewelry and trinkets.
Flagstaff has a few good breweries.
If you are going to drive up to the GC, you can go north out of Flagstaff on 89 up to 64 and then cut across to GCNP.
If you are going all the way to Page, you could hit the North rim of the GC on the way back. Also, just before you get to Page there is a turnoff to go see Horseshoe Bend but it has been discovered and has turned into a hoard of sightseers.

+1 on this - very interesting and I'm glad we took our kids who were 9 and 6 at the time.
Also, out of Sedona we took the drive through Oak Creek Canyon up to Flagstaff and then into the Grand Canyon. Seeing that should be on everyone's bucket list for sure!

I like canyons in which you can explore all about....If your not careful, you can get lost in some. Many have a treeline, many don't. Both are great!

oak creek canyon is a 6 mile hike if you do the whole thing. It has trees, but bring extra water. there is a path but it's easy to get turned around. my daughter and I did....

if you like to climb, try camelback mt in Scottsdale. I went up as far as improved trail and handrail lasted. the rest of way was too rough for me since I had a total hip replacement 4 months earlier. was told by locals that on the weekends usually at least one person is air transported to the hospital as a result of a fall.

Why are you going to Page? Glen Canyon has some cool spots but not really that close to Page which is not really a ‘show up for a day and see the sights’ kind of place. Kanab-area is a much better place to visit than Page and only about 90 minutes further away.
