“In 2016, Avicii retired from live performing due to health reasons, having suffered from acute pancreatitis owing, in part, to excessive drinking. In 2014, his gallbladder and appendix had been removed.”

Unfortunately, sources say Bergling's self-medication did not come to an end when he left the party scene behind.
Fans noticed that he looked increasingly gaunt and weathered when appearing in public over the past year, and many expressed concerns for his health.
While there has been no confirmation that drugs or alcohol played a role in Avicii's death, those who knew the superstar DJ best say there's little doubt that it was his desperate need to drown his anxieties that led to his demise.

So it could have been suicide, could have been an accidental overdose and it could have been “natural causes” because a lifetime of addiction wrecked his body.
Ultimately it will be the same culprit, addiction to chemicals.
Dude must have partied incredibly hard, look at all of the rock stars that are still alive and kicking. I would imagine he injested way too many pills.
I haven’t seen it but anonymous people claiming they saw the tox report say he died due to his pancreas “bursting” (technically the artery to it). Apparently he had been drinking heavily on the day of his death which can trigger that in someone who’s already destroyed their pancreas from years of heavy drinking. So the (we’ll say rumor until I actually see a tox report) is he literally drank himself to death.

Dann. I never heard of the dude but read up on him and knew he drank heavy. Also read that he had bad anxiety, which you get from heavy drinking - hangovers. When I saw the anxiety thing I figured he was on the xanny train and took one too many with his cocktail of other exlixors...
He doesn't look terribly different in these pics considering one was likely taken during a well lit photo shoot, likely with make up / tan, and the other while he's riding in a car.This

Regardless, sad to see for such a young and talented guy. Hopefully his passing isn't all for naught and it serves as a lesson to his fans and contemporaries.
Jimmy Hendrix, Janis Joplin and Jim Morrison all hoped that their passings served as a lesson. Wisdom is wasted on the old.
So in a shock to everyone including me, anonymous sources posting on the internet MAY have been wrong.
I still haven’t seen a tox report, but the family released a letter that makes it clear it was suicide of some sort and the Daily Mail (one tiny notch above anonymous internet posters accuracy imo) is claiming he drunkenly slit his wrists with a broken wine bottle.

Well I trust the “Daily Fail” only slightly more than random internet posters as it’s basically a British TMZ, but if what they’re saying is true he got drunk and slit his wrists. So suicide while under the influence.
Kieth Richards died years ago from a multiple decade long drug binge. But the stuff was so skrong he hasn’t realized he kicked the bucket. He just keeps moving along, a limey mummy in motion.

Oh wow, I didn't even see that on your post above. I saw suicide then my add kicked in before I got to the slit the wrist part! But yeah, when those pills turn on you, suicide seems like a real good way to escape the pain. Hate to see anybody suffer like that...
