Last night I opened up a few cans of Campbell's beef broth, threw in some cut up celery and some marrow bones and let simmer for a few hours. Drank a good sized cup of it later on. Have been crapping like a goose all day today. Is that the deal? Are there health benefits to this or do you just lose weight because your body rejects everything you ingest after you drank some of it?

Definitely bring that up with your doctor, if there wasn’t an issue with food poisoning or something along those lines, it’s due to an inability to properly process either glutamine and/or fat with the most likely issue stemming from the gall bladder. It probably is absolutely nothing but there’s a large enough chance of something it’s worth talking to a medical professional about it.

Or, he could just skip the bone marrow soup for the rest of his life.

Bone broth very healthy. Likely something else bothering your GI. The Korean tradition requires 2-3 days to really make the broth so a few hours of simmering isn't the full effect.

We use it with people that have significant digestive issues (crohn's, celiac) so to the contrary of being bad for digestion, it can be excellent.

If you liked the bone broth and want to try again I'd recommend taking some digestive enzymes with it.

If you saw how canned stock was made you would take the time to make your own. Just imagine the stuff that does not make it to “all beef” hot dogs. It does not go to waste. I staffed for a Campbell’s copacker and have an in-depth knowledge of this stuff. They put the beef in the vats of water frozen, cause the smell was so bad you could not let it defrost. That stuff would make a maggot gag.

This reminds me of my uncle, who owned a commercial slicer business. He took a tour of a sausage/hot dog making facility about 50 years ago....and hasn't eaten a sausage link or hot dog since.

My husband was an Oscar Mayer exec and while we continued to eat bacon the hot dogs came off our family menu. We switched to Hebrew National.
I will occasionally have a hot dog with coleslaw- maybe three in a year's time.

Campbell's Soup is gross. The "chicken" in the chicken soup could be anything.
