This is not a very good football team. And i have two major concerns. My greatest fear is that this coaching philosophy is creating and fostering a culture of playing with fear. This is NOT an attacking defense. I'm so sick of this contain, avoid giving up the big play bs. It's not working. Instead we die a death from 1000 cuts. Against a team with similar talent, that will come back to bite us. If we really have recruited as well as anyone else in the country the last several years, you ATTACK. We should have the athleticism to overcome taking some of the risks associated with being aggressive and attacking.
Along with this,I just don't think our guys are having any FUN. And this hurts the lifeblood of our program- recruiting. Kids want to come and play for programs where you attack, score big, showcase talent, win big etc. and guess what- when that happens- you get up big and can play a lot of guys... Especially young guys... Early. Which brings me to another major concern. We're NOT utilizing our supposedly incredible talent to its greatest potential. No carries for Patrick? No targets for Campbell when other guys are dropping balls left and right? Terrible.
After just watching clumpson let me say this. Like so many do here, you all can rip on dabo swinney all day, but there is fire around that program. He may be a total boob with his in game coaching, but it looks like FUN to play for him. And after watching fu dismantle ole miss, you're about to see a big swing In interest there. It's obvious, the coach everyone wants to ridicule b/c of his teeth, is going to turn sh!t around quick.
You can all act like everything's kosher but it's absolutely not. Two years off of a natty, a heisman winner, a year off of a playoff appearance, and in the midst of a 43-3 run, things are NOT what they should be. We're not recruiting like we should be and we're certainly not dominating like we should be.
I'll be honest and bold here. If a natty isn't in the cards this year, but everyone seems to think it could be next year, I'm in favor of preparing for that. If Maguire isn't our guy, I would start to give the guy who Is the guy some time. Francois? I'd get him, and many others some true, battle tested experience.
I hate to say this, but i actually have some major questions about jimbo. One could argue he won a title (and coached differently I might add) on the shoulders of a once in a generation, transcendent talent at QB. What I'm seeing again now is the same conservative, unimaginative game planning, scheming and play calling I saw before Jameis. Problem is EG doesn't have EJs talent so, expect more of the same from here on out. A great coach will recognize this and adapt. We'll see soon enough if jimbo should be in that conversation.
