Bradfordville Blues Club.

They catch a number of acts on their way to higher paying gigs down south and back to New Orleans.
They have a furnished 3BR house for performers to spend the night and they get fed as well.
So it’s gas and beer money and a place to crash for some of the finer blues acts around.
It is a unique asset to the area for sure.

Oh yes. When Dave owned it, it was good. They had some awesome ribs but once the Blues Society took it over they really have improved it.

Humble brag, I made the Web Site.

My better half and I need to check them out one night while we're in Tallahassee. We both love the blues and the jazz type music and there is nowhere around Valdosta for that. I think there's a few places in Jacksonville area. And making when we went that way way back in the day. Will definitely have to check it out.

I usually go whenever Randall Bramblett is in town and when Col Bruce stopped by once or twice a year. Other acts like New Orleans Suspects are great there but they always play on a Sunday for some reason. Decent beer prices and fried catfish are also good reasons to go...

@ericram the new site? I noticed they changed it when I checked the schedule a few weeks ago.

It was a labor of love, but they were not losing money. Certainly, Tallahassee needs this venue.

There was an article just around a year ago saying they were potentially going to close due to lack of funds. I certainly try to help by going more often than I normally would.

They also recently removed their Saturday night live feed from the radio(106.1) but were planning to continue live streaming it on facebook.

Very sad and I hope they rebuild but the pics are pretty bad:

Surly they must have insurance.

Maybe, struggling businesses tend to let those things go. But even if they have it, if it’s going to be a struggle to get BACK to break even, sometimes they just take the insurance money and run. If you recall Movies 5 in the Betton area was a nice asset to Tally as they exclusively showed Indy and foreign films and they were barely scraping by as well...and then some ahat stole the copper tubing out of their AC and they didn’t have an emergency fund to fix it.

Man I loved Movies 5 as I do with Bradfordville Blues Club.

That’s a big ass live oak, heaviest hard wood of them all. Ugh.
Rats, I have tried to catch a show there, but it has not worked schedule wise up to this point. Gary and his brother Steve have a long ago history with my old man, and I would love to catch up.
If they send up the Bat Signal, maybe some of us can help out in the cleanup/rehab.

I drove in and looked - the building is ruined I doubt it conformed to the building code and a total re-build may trigger site development standards that make it impractical. The Blues Club needs a new home.

That was a serious oak tree.

So no property insurance. Man that sucks. Will donate, but hope they can raise the money to repair and return.

That’s what I was afraid of. As I mentioned a lot of struggling businesses let their insurance lapse first. Better to pay employees than worry about the future.

From what I read, the club was being operated by someone other than the owner of the real estate. The operating company had insurance on the contents, but the property owner did not have insurance on the building itself.

I can see why they chose not to insure that building. My guess is they thought that metal roof was their insurance.

Do it was owned by Dave, who owned Dave's CC Club. This was the start of the blues club. He and his wife got tired of running it and closed it. They moved to NC. The Tallahassee Blues Society leased it from Dave and reopened as Bradfordville Blues Club. What's crazy is property insurance is only $1800 a year.

From Facebook:

BBC Update--The Tree is Gone! It's gone away for firewood. Many many thanks to Fielder Landscaping in Tallahassee for helping us out! The outpouring of support is mind-boggling! From our customers/irregulars, to the community, to the blues family, contractors, volunteers and more volunteers. What once was a jumbled mess on the roof with devastation inside, is now taking shape. The artwork and tables came away unscathed for the most part and are now in safe keeping. The inside is clean except for the rafters hanging around. The standing water and the wet carpeting around the stage is gone. The plaster, insulation and debris have been cleaned. The GoFundMe page (https://www.gofundme.com/big-bend-blues-society-bbc-fund) is over $10K in one day. Bands, venues and agents have offered to hold benefits. Too much to absorb in such a short time. There is no insurance to cover the damage to the building but we are hopeful that the generosity of so many will allow us to reopen in the near future. Still a long jam away but we will reopen with the help of the blues gods. We'll keep you posted. Much love from the BBC!

$15k of $25k goal in one day is pretty impressive and I saw 1 person donated $2k themselves.
I think that is all great, but aren't they really just helping out the guy who owns the building and has been saving money by not having any insurance? Seems like the guy who deserves the help is the one who runs it and pours his heart and soul into it.

That's good news.

I'd love to see what the inside looks like after repairs compared to before.
