Terrible news.
I know they were barely making it as it was, that could be the death knell.
Surly they must have insurance.
It was a labor of love, but they were not losing money. Certainly, Tallahassee needs this venue.Terrible news.

Man I loved Movies 5 as I do with Bradfordville Blues Club.Maybe, struggling businesses tend to let those things go. But even if they have it, if it’s going to be a struggle to get BACK to break even, sometimes they just take the insurance money and run. If you recall Movies 5 in the Betton area was a nice asset to Tally as they exclusively showed Indy and foreign films and they were barely scraping by as well...and then some ahat stole the copper tubing out of their AC and they didn’t have an emergency fund to fix it.
Rats, I have tried to catch a show there, but it has not worked schedule wise up to this point. Gary and his brother Steve have a long ago history with my old man, and I would love to catch up.That’s a big ass live oak, heaviest hard wood of them all. Ugh.
That was a serious oak tree.I drove in and looked - the building is ruined I doubt it conformed to the building code and a total re-build may trigger site development standards that make it impractical. The Blues Club needs a new home.
So no property insurance. Man that sucks. Will donate, but hope they can raise the money to repair and return.

That’s what I was afraid of. As I mentioned a lot of struggling businesses let their insurance lapse first. Better to pay employees than worry about the future.
Do it was owned by Dave, who owned Dave's CC Club. This was the start of the blues club. He and his wife got tired of running it and closed it. They moved to NC. The Tallahassee Blues Society leased it from Dave and reopened as Bradfordville Blues Club. What's crazy is property insurance is only $1800 a year. From what I read, the club was being operated by someone other than the owner of the real estate. The operating company had insurance on the contents, but the property owner did not have insurance on the building itself.

Well I run a business with a building that requires us keep property insurance. Or I just took a guess. How do you know how much their insurance would have been?
