Yep, which isn't out of the ordinary for old wrestlers. In related news, I saw that Nikolai Volkoff also passed away.

It’s comical now that when you look back how ,as a kid, you thought these guys were complete anti-American aholes. This cumulated with Volkoff and the Iron Sheik as the bad guy tag team duo. One from Iran and the other the USSR, at least that is how they were billed.

I read that Volkoff attempted a run as a state senator and the Sheik now lives in Fayetteville, GA. Doesn’t sound like they hate America, lol. Good memories of them in the squared circle.

Well the Iron Sheik is the real deal, he was the bodyguard of the Shah of Iran in the 1960s. He escaped Iran and yes does love the United States. Legend.

Netflix has a documentary on The Iron Sheik. Was pretty good but hard to understand in some places.
