Buy TVs for teammates??

I hope this doesn't become a trend in the NFL more than it has. These guys are millionaires and everyone knows how much a TV costs. Unless you are a person that loves gifts no matter what, to me it seems to be a stupid gesture to say your priceless millionaire teammate is worth a TV. Buy them a car already and I will think that's cool even if u get your endorsers to pay most behind the scenes. If FSU teammates did it or other college teams then I would be impressed with TVs until the media made it negative somehow by suggesting theft.

Had to look up that saying. But good point on not hating a positive gesture. But I think the media covering the tiny tiny tiny gesture is what gets me. The media is so choosy on the positive stories they report but it could just be a scorned FSU fan talking.

That RB who is filling in for Ray Rice only earns $750,000 a year. Half goes to Uncle Sam. Another percentage goes to his agent. He also has to pay some minimal taxes in all of the states he played an away game in. After all of that, spending $10,000 on some TVs for your OLine seems like a HUGE gesture but maybe that's just me?

Thanks for the breakdown. I wasn't sure what this was referencing but thought to myself, buying a car for other millionaires really seems useless as they will be driving $50k+ vehicles as the 2nd, 3rd or further cars in their garages.

Going THAT big is why people go broke.

Further, when Watson gave up his game check, it broke down to $18k. It's a different circumstance & all, but I was surprised a game check was "only" 18k after all was said and done. Some people donate $50k to charities - doesn't make Watson's feature any less amazing.

It's not a lot, but it's a way to say thank you for all they done. It's something he doesnt have to do. Also one site has his salary listed as 570,000. I am sure he got a lot of bonus money.

Well that's also before social security tax, Medicare, Obama Care surcharge tax for people making over $250K, state and local.

If you think paying 40% plus the rest is either fair, or that it doesn't end up over 50% then you are either a student or don't make an income that would help adjust your viewpoint.
