Don't know much about NFC, but that experience is not uncommon. When I was in public school, the religious schools in our area were where all the kids who'd been expelled from public schools ended up.Originally posted by AllNoles:
There are a few things that really bother me about NFC. One is that it typifies what many complain about sports. The football players there are treated like little gods. It's funny that this happens there given the religious nature of the school. I love football, but I have no interest in it being a religion of its own. The second is that as the kids get older, more and more troubled kids end up there. NFC is often where people send their kids when they are getting in a lot of trouble elsewhere. NFC is not equipped to provide those kids any better a situation than any other school, but they end up being moved there together.

I would say that is not a fair statement in general. With the exception of St Thomas Aquinas I can't think of too many religious schools that excel in sports. Hell we didn't win a homecoming game the entire 4 years I was at Cardinal Gibbons. and JP2 in Tallahassee certainly isn't blowing the doors off people. With that said though, I've never heard anyone like NFC primarily because of who is running the ship there and the financial reasons behind it.Originally posted by Formerly Rockymtnole:

Where I live now, the religious schools tend to excel in sports - but the rap is they recruit out of area schools quite heavily.
I'd never send my children to a faith-based school.
Pensacola Catholic has had some success in football and baseball, and some of the girls sports. The school does well from an academic perspective, and doesn't generally take kids that have been expelled from public schools. Most of the kids there come from the Catholic feeder schools. A few come to play football, though Catholic doesn't recruit.Originally posted by CobNole:

This will be of no help, but I went there when I was 3... I hated it.
My teacher beat me w/ a paint stirrer every day. Ms Wilder. Awful.
Aside from Casey Weldon, there's not much that school has done that I know or care about.
It was somewhat political and really had nothing to do with the original intent of the thread.Originally posted by gwgwi:
