Chernobyl

I think you may need to be either a little bit of a science nerd or history buff to really enjoy it, but its tough to watch with some of the content. Highly recommend it.

I've enjoyed it thus far. I don't think people at the time understood just how gravely serious this was. Then again, nothing of this magnitude involving nuclear reactors had ever happened before and the Soviets weren't exactly sharing a lot of information with the rest of the world.

Agreed, and watching those guys who were exposed suffer is awful. Lots of self sacrifice as well.

Place has turned into quite the wildlife habitat. Some species that hadn’t been seen in any number for generations seem to be thriving.
Estimated 20,000 years or so before man can safely inhabit the immediate area (30 KM) around the facility.

I remember choosing Chernobyl and 3 Mile Island as the topic for my year-end presentation in middle school.
Have been fascinated by it (and more recently Fukushima) since then.

I love this show. I hope they are depicting it close to what happened with the clean up. Just crazy stuff.

I love how the Soviet Union listed something around 30 lives lost. On the show they had it between 4000- and 90k.

Did you see Putin talking about doing their own version to clear things up? The premise: an American agent infiltrated Chernobyl and saboted it lol

I loved the series, but fear for Jared Harris. His characters have offed themselves in Mad Men and now Chernobyl. That's got to mess with a guy's psyche.

the cornerstone of the Soviet regime is based on lies and deception. The Ukraine had experienced its own Holocaust (referred to as "Holodomar", which loosely translated in English means, death by hunger). approximately, 5 million Ukrainians were killed during a artificially engineered famine created under Stalin.

And how would you know? ;)
Surprised no one else hates the British actor tactic. Id rather have had all Russian actors with subtitles or Russian accents in English. It’s a really well done series, very interesting, but its feeling all fiction when a Chelsea scientist tells a Suffolk Gov official that Russian people are sick of this....

I always prefer subtitles, watch quite a few shows regularly that have them...and they are some of the best on TV
