Our office is closed Friday/Monday (22nd/25th) and Friday/Monday (29th/1st). I was kinda surprised we got off two days for New Years.

I took off the 2nd.

Pet peeve of corporate middle America:
- There always seems to be that one person who requests off for the holidays in like May, causing "coverage" issues for everyone else. I have two of them which means I'm here for the holidays mostly.

you could call them out on it in a group/team setting and put an end to it.

I'm off 21st - 2nd.

Our office is closed on the 25th and 26th. I'm taking time off on the 27th. Doing EOY wrap up items on the 28th and 29th but probably won't work full days. Working a half day on the 22nd.

Our company shuts down from the 22nd until the 2nd, mandatory for all employees. You have to use 4 days of vacation time, or go unpaid. Which kinda sucks.

I'm off (combination of officially off and sort of/quasi/unofficially off) from 12/21 - 1/1, returning to work on 1/2.

Only off X-Mas. We went to Costa Rica for 8 days last month so I'm covering the holidays for my team so others can take off.

I’m taking off 12/23-1/2 (I’m only using 5 actual days of PTO to cover the time off)).

This week is super slow. Even though I’m working, it feels much more relaxed and easy going.

between people with kids out of school, lower workload, distractions, office parties, potlucks, etc- no one really does (will do) anything from the 22nd-2nd anyways.

Truths. One ridiculous thing IMHO is the schools here in Tallahasseeland dismissed on Friday the 15th. Seems a bit early-I don't remember as a kid getting 10 days off BEFORE Christmas. Of course we also did not get the entire week of Thanksgiving off either. Between all the time off and the promiscuous 20 something hot teachers these days, I am feeling way ripped off.

I haven't worked since the 7th sans a few emails/calls here and there. I'm not going back until the 8th

I'd always tell folks unless it was a cruise or something where travels tickets had to be purchased so far in advance, I wouldn't take PTO requests until 3 months from the date(s) requested. A lot easier to judge what workflow and staffing needs would be 3 months out as opposed to 7.

Is posting on Warchant included in this workflow needs modeling?

That seems like something I'll suggest.

Off 22 and 26, then working but its an easy week. I used most of my time off for Brazil this summer.

Off tomorrow through January 3.

I'll be working as needed via phone and email, but someone else will have to keep my desk chair warm.

I'm "working" every day save for the 25th/27th and 1st. Most of that will be from home and limited to whenever I walk by the laptop. We have some big initiatives for the new year that kick off in January and I have to write the training guides and SOPs, so I actually have something to do.

I have to request my leave a year in advance and time off is seniority-based. Unfortunately, that means I have to over-schedule and because I'm most senior I'll eventually get what I want. Sucks to have to plan that way though but after 26 years I'm used to it. I've been both the crapper and crapped-on in these situations.

Oh man. That's painful circumstances. Also, I'm giving you a like because of superstition.

UCLA is the same way. It has always irritated me, esp. given that I always work through the holidays regardless of whether the university was “open.” These days, I load up my private practice appointments during the holidays to give myself a year-end bonus.

My wife’s an LCSW. She used to always try and schedule work on the holidays (any of them) only to find people cancelling more often than not at the last minute. So it just meant we couldn’t make our own plans. This year she’s taking the whole week off.
I’m taking off the day of our bowl game and the day after, but otherwise will be working.

In NOLA for work this week--home on Friday. Family is with me so going to do Christmas things in the Quarter with dinner at Cochon tonight, Peche tomorrow and a stop at Turkey and the Wolf on the way out of town.

I'm wrapping up my last trip of the year in Chicago through Thursday. I'll work from home (as per usual) through the end of the year, with lots of long breaks in between.

I'm off from 12/22/17 to 1/1/18. That's 11 days and only had to use 3 PTO days.

Taking Friday then we have off Monday and the 1st. It's a waste to take time off (unless you're going somewhere) the week before Christmas and New Year's, cause you can work half days and not take any days...
