Swimming Clark wins 1-meter springboard at Auburn Diving Invitational

AUBURN, Ala. – Redshirt junior Kayleigh Clark won the 1-meter springboard competition for the Florida State swimming and diving team on the second day of the Auburn Diving Invitational in Auburn, Alabama on Thursday.

Clark was victorious on 1-meter and graduate student Samantha Vear placed third. On men’s 3-meter, freshman Hayden Schroeder was fourth in the final to lead the Seminoles at Auburn’s James E. Martin Aquatics Center

Thursday’s 1-meter competition was the first individual event for the women at the four-day meet. The men opened with 1-meter on Wednesday before continuing the week on 3-meter on Thursday.

Clark posted a score of 295.15 in the final and edged the runner-up finisher by 3.0 points. Vear was close behind in third with 287.35 points. Freshman Evelyn Hall also made the final and was 10th with a score of 256.70. Senior Isabel Gregersen (14th, 239.20) and junior Cassidy Carder (16th, 217.50) also represented the Seminoles in the event.

Meanwhile on 3-meter, Schroeder earned 355.25 points to place fourth. Sophomore John Bessire was eighth with a score of 321.95 and freshman Noah Turner finished in 12th with 261.35 points in the final.

The Auburn Invite continues with women’s 3-meter and men’s platform on Friday, December 20. The meet will conclude on Saturday, December 21, with women’s platform. Action begins at 11:30 a.m. ET on Dec. 20, and at 11 a.m. ET / 10 a.m. CT on Dec. 21. Each event will feature prelims followed by finals.

Live results can be found on Dive Meets. The meet will be streamed live on SEC Network+ (Thursday | Friday | Saturday).

On Wednesday to begin the week, FSU’s divers earned four top-six finishes, including runner-up showings in both the men’s and women’s team events.

A total of 51 divers are set to compete in at least one event, a field that features athletes from host-Auburn, George Washington, Tennessee and Utah in addition to Florida State.
