Cosby found guilty

This one hurt worse than any other person who fell from grace. Cosby always felt like a second Father figure to me growing up. To find out it was all a lie, man that hurt.

Its been on news all day since it was declared. I get its big, but wish we could move on to some other topics. Still a bit curious they let him leave, guess to arrange his affairs before sentencing? Money is more importance than race.

You are not the only one who has indicated such, but I find it odd that people would create such an association with someone they only watched on TV. I watched him and grew up with him as well, but never felt that type of connection. He was just another tv person.

The Cosby show was our family tradition. It was the one show our entire family watched together, bonded with, and then talked about and used as lessons. My parents were constantly referencing things on that show as lessons to learn from. So over time I began to take those teachings as important as my families as they were eventually the same.

Ours was the Sopranos.

Cosby's actions are a travesty. The fact that he could play a revered responsible TV Dad while committing these crimes is unbelievable. That he could assault so many women, drugging them and without their permission is crazy. Even being an aggressive man wanting what he did, he could have had a lot of women with their permission. He deserves jail for the rest of his life.

I thought it was interesting that before and during the trial, he purported to be blind and virtually crippled. He slowwwwly shuffled in and out of court with the assistance of a handler, etc.

Dude is convicted, and the above stunt immediately gives way to a spirited dash to his car, etc.

I never liked his defense strategy of viciously attacking the victims. But then I paused and realized there isn’t any viable defense here at all. So I guess you just shoot your bullets and hope you hit something. Cosby missed badly.

Going back and watching some of his standup and even scenes on the Cosby show bring this behavior to light. There's an episode of the Cosby Show where all the spouses are arguing and he makes his "Special Chili" that has something in it that makes everyone romantic and happy to be together. And he brags about how he does this until he realizes Rudy's about to eat it with her friend Bud, at that point he dashes over and takes their chili away.

In the 80s we laughed, now it just feels creepy.

Strange, we never watched the Cosby Show growing up. I think I've only seen a few episodes.

My parents did have a couple of his comedy albums from the 60s that i listened to often.

I probably watched Bill Cosby Himself, his HBO comedy special from the early '80s, 100 times. I liked Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids cartoon. I watched some Cosby Show, but never really found it that funny. It was very typical '80s sanitized tv. I do find it ironic he admonished so many black entertainers over the years for their "filth flarn filth" while he was engaging in far worse activities himself.

I agree.

They are making a big deal out of his age and that any notable time would be a death sentence in jail. It is deserved and then some. He was lucky all the other potential victims waited too long, else he'd have criminal charges in the hundreds (guessing based on basic math). He deserves to die in jail, have his entire $400 million split up amongst his victims and we can make offhanded jokes for the next hundred years about anyone wearing a Cosby sweater, just like we giggle about someone wearing a Charlie Chaplin stache.

All of this, you can thank Hannibal Burress for a bit/joke that seemed to be the spark.

Yeah, I know a number of people who say the same thing about that show or others. Not casting shade at all, I just find it interesting that it happens. Apparently it is called a parasocial relationship.

If it’s a 10 year max for each, my guess would be 3-5 for each charge served concurrently... plus restitution

The big issue is whether the Judge allows him to remain on bail pending the outcome of the appeal. If so, he will probably never serve a day.

Shocked that the wife has stayed in the fold. Maybe they have an "arrangement" under which she technically remains in the picture, but, in reality, she completely does own thing -- buoyed by whatever money Cosby has remaining. I have no idea how much cash Cosby now has, but it is a hell of a lot less than it was 5 years ago.

Or maybe she has somehow forgiven him. Just wow, if so.

She's most likely in complete denial. Even Sanduskys wife still says he's innocent.

This. He'll likely never see jail time.

However, for a guy like this, to go from being America's Dad to a public disgrace and one of the country's largest scourges, to a point where he'll have to live the rest of his life in seclusion, is also a significant punishment.

One of the jurors sited that Cosby's own words of buying qualudes and using it to drug women in a sworn testimony years ago is what lead to his conviction. While this guy was railing on Eddie Murphy for Raw language he was drugging and raping woman. So very sick and disgusting. Hope he lives out his sorry pathetic life in jail.
