I have one that I use strictly for work and the occasional item I don't want my wife to see (different topic).

I have another that my wife and use for all our personal items. And we put everything but our mortgage payment on this card.

We pay in full when statement is made available each month. We have never been late, and we have always paid entire balance. Because of this we have never been hit with interest.

I was tooling around looking at our points last night when I saw our APR, both of my cards are at 23.9%, which seems INCREDIBLY high to me.

I'm going to call and ask they lower, but wanted to know what is a reasonable rate to ask for.

What's your APR?

I have Capital One Quicksilver and Chase Sapphire.

I like my cash back with Quicksilver the most. The points for Chase would be better if I travled more, but I don't, I like the straight cold cash.

Customer service was really bad for Quicksilver when I originally got the card years ago, but it has improved big time. Chase has great customer service and I have never had an issue with them.

I have 2 cards.

My USAA Master Card has a 5.9% APR and I put everything on it but gas/groceries. It's a steady flow of debit/credit, so it almost never accrues interest. It also has a decent cash-back incentive, so I "earn" about $50 every other month.

My gas/grocery card is the AMEX Blue Card. I think it has around a 23% APR, but I ALWAYS pay it off. I earn 6% back on groceries and 3% back on fuel, so every December I cash in those points and wind up having a grocery/gas bill that's 2/3rds less during the Christmas season. I love this card.

I'm the type of customer credit card companies hate. ;)

Capital One and Chase both are notorious for high interest rates and APR.

I use Citibank and USAA. The USAA AMEX card has a 8.9% APR and my Citibank APR is 11.9%. We pay off both every month. The USAA AMEX is used for groceries and gas and my Citibank Aadvantage card is used for other purchases, namely daycare. If we're going to shell out that much for daycare, I'm at least going to get some miles out of it.

Don't know, we pay it off every month like you.

But I'm more interested in hearing about the stuff you're hiding from your wife. That's a much more interesting thread than credit card APR!

Pretty much all my strip club visits, which is technically work related. I find myself there maybe 2-3 times a year, and everytime it's because of work. I bought tickets to the Bama game that were pretty hefty, was eventually able to expense through work, but I would have kept to myself if I wasn't able to expense.

Oh yeah...and all the purchases I spend on my girlfriend!!!

didn’t know as I never carry a balance but figured I should so looked up all my cards:

AE: 16.24

Barclay: 16.99

USAA: 9.90

Discover: 13.49

If you are paying them off immediately, then the APR should not be an issue. That said, you are getting screwed. I am at 3.9%. Also, pics of wife. Don't you know the rules??

Taking clients to strip clubs? How common is that these days?

Not clients; pre-sales team and inside sales guys. I'll spring for a round of drinks and buy them a lap dance if that's what they want.

I'm not a big fan of going, as a matter of fact I can't stand going. But it's important that I build rapport with those folks, I need them going the extra mile for me.

I did on one occasion take a prospect to a strip club at my prior company. It wasn't a good idea. He got hammered and felt embarrassed the next etc. It actually worked against me.

And of course I'm kidding on the GF comment :)

You expense that stuff?

You expense that stuff?

Yup; I put a copy of the receipt from the cash advance in my expense report, and use the tag, "employee relations". I then list all the M-effes with me, so if I go down, we all go down.

I also check with the bartender to see what the drinks will read on my receipt, if it's the name of the strip club, I'll use cash only for the beverages. But most of these establishments use different alias; they are smart!

My regional director approves all my expenses. I always clear with him first, he is the one showed me how to expense this type of stuff, and typically, if not always, he is there with me participating....his name goes on the list of attendees as well when I expense.

These nights are after sales kicks offs, QBR's, etc. My boss usually picks up the dinner tab for everyone, and then I get the strip club tab...it's the way of the pecking order.

Knock on wood, but I've never had an issue. And let me also be clear, it never goes over 4 or 500 dollars, if that. And there are other account executives there doing the same; it's not uncommon.

You know that's somebody's daughter up there grinding away, don't you?

Rewards cards (I.e cap 1 quick silver, chase freedom, etc) naturally have much higher APRs than cards designed to have a low interest rate (I.e. Chase Slate).

You don't get a rewards card with the intention of carrying a balance on it. Doesn't pay off.

Pay Pal has a MasterCard that offers 2% back on all purchases.

Not bad.

Pretty shocked that you guys are not using the American Express Black Card. Seems like I stumbled into a welfare line with you folks talking about "cash back" and other trivialities. We may need to rename this the Poors Locker Room.
