As the Transformation Committee continues its work, look for significant changes in minimum D1 membership eligibility requirements and the likely creation of a new Tier 1 Subdivision. Raising the minimum football attendance requirement and fully funding scholarships for ALL college athletes (including every baseball player and all Olympic sports athletes) is on the table.
This will likely affect conference realignment at both the top and the bottom. Many schools that have just made the jump to D1 could be forced back down. Some schools that are at the FCS or FBS levels now could be forced down a notch.
