Jackson posted anti-Semitic quotes from Hitler, yet I don't see the players who have been asking for unity and brotherhood, denouncing his actions. He didn't seem to have any issue posting the quotes, which are actually fake, and still doesn't seem to understand what he did. In Jackson's apology, which is abysmal, he stated he didn't mean it, "to the extent you guys took it."

Am I crazy for thinking that individuals with huge platforms, like other athletes, including our own, that have denounced others for bigoted statements, should come out and denounce Jackson? Even individuals that use the wrong word, like Coach Norvell, get blasted as "not getting it", yet where are the players standing against what Jackson clearly stands for?

He apologized again in stronger terms this time. He's a POS in my book, and players who speak out against other forms of discrimination should be vocal now too. But I personally don't care what any of these guys say, whether I agree with them or not. I wish more people would just tune out the noise and enjoy them for what they are good at, which is playing sports.

This. If a white player had quoted Hitler (even in this context of "Jews exploiting the Negroes for world domination".....whatever the hell this means lol) this would have blown up. So much so that I wouldn't be surprised if he was kicked out of the league, fined thousands of dollars, or suspended for multiple games. But because DeSean Jackson is black it's ok......we'll give him a pass.....

Drew Brees was hated by teammates, the media, other players etc for saying he wouldn't kneel because he loves the American flag, his country, and he views it as disrespectful to kneel (of which I couldn't agree more) but Jackson lauds Farrakhan (a well known racist man) and attempts to quote Hitler and his fellow teammates and the media support him, give him a pass saying that his words were misinterpreted etc.? Why?

For the record I think everyone is too sensitive right now and it is exhausting reading the news day after day. I'm willing to give everyone, regardless of color, political party, religion, sex etc the benefit of the doubt and not jump to scorched earth "let's burn this a-hole at the stake" mentality but as a white male my opinion doesn't mean crap. Not a pity party for the white males of the world but it does seem like as long as you aren't white (white male being the worst) you can get a good bit of leeway/support for actions you take but if you are white and male you are pretty much screwed lol.

Exactly how I feel. There are some really smart thoughtful athletes but being good at sports (or acting/singing) certainly doesn’t imply we need to value your opinions.

Athletes, actors, etc, are mostly ignorant, and their opinions are no more valid than mine. The great Charles Barkley was right... He isn't a role model, and I don't listen to nearly any person in professions I listed above.

I literally could not care less what almost all of them think.

You can add politicians into that mix.

I'll bet a solid amount that Jackson spent more time deciding what to have for lunch than researching the history of Jews and Blacks.

That doesn't excuse his vile tweet.
Absolutely not! I hope that’s not what anyone took from my post. I just meant he is ignorant and easily influenced, with a big platform like Twitter to spout off his nonsense.

As a Jewish person and a second generation Holocaust survivor, I found Desean Jackson's comments to be extraordinarily ignorant. Red flags should go up when one posts a quote attributed to Hitler. A further quote from Louis Farrakan shows us Jackson is just not a very smart individual. In 2017, I took a trip to Poland and toured sites where more than three million people were killed. Jackson needs to do the same.

Yep, the white male should just shut up and dribble, huh?
I'm going to guess that you probably weren't nearly so sensitive about that comment when it was directed toward Lebron. Please note, I haven't said that someone(anyone) can't voice their displeasure about how they are treated, whether it be on the basis of color or their fashion sense. But, if we're being honest, male caucasians are still the wealthiest, safest and "most trustworthy" appearing demographic on the planet. Generally, when the color of a white man comes up, it has to do when they do or say something that is deemed an issue. It's not the same thing when a person of color is immediately classified regardless of what they say or do. On top of that, it generally takes a person of color exhibiting caucasian-esque qualities to be accepted by caucasians in order for them to be deemed trustworthy.

Broad brush and generalities. Individual merit I guess has no place. Original post was regarding an individual, who you rightly stated, was wrong for demeaning an entire group. I found it odd none of the individuals who ripped others for not bringing people together, chose to stay silent on this one. The same individuals who demanded no one stay silent on injustice. Appreciate your input and attempt to change the subject.

I judge people based on whether you are kind or not, stupid or smart, whether we have similar interests etc. I could give two craps what color someone is. That being said, this attitude that white males have things easy and we’re deemed trustworthy and we should automatically forgive any person of color for saying racist things because after all they’ve had things really tough doesn’t follow logic to me. Truth be told I wish everyone were less sensitive. I don’t think Desean Jackson should have to apologize for posting what he did just like I don’t think Brees should have to apologize for respecting the flag but if you are going to make the white guy apologize shouldn’t you also make the black guy for something that in my opinion was much worse? I would say yes. None of us asked to be white, none of us have owned slaves, and I would argue the majority of whites are not racist. Do we make mistakes? Sure, who doesn’t.....he who is without sin cast the first stone. But this constant blame the whites for all the worlds problems gets old.

Imagine the outrage if it was the other way around.

He would be dropped from the team and blackballed from all other teams.

Nope on rebuttals with ‘muh Kap. He was a mid grade NFL QB at tops.

it’s ****ing ridiculous.
