There was a lot of good.
1. Beatty, I feel so pleased for him to get some retribution. Perhaps he has a solid campaign from here on, but no matter what, he was an integral part to this game.
2. Kermit's versatility was on display, running the ball, being a possession receiver, catching a deep pass, this is how we need to use him and make the defense prepare for him and spend time not thinking about Cook.
3. NO turnovers, we had the muff but the offense is taking care of the ball, namely EG but that is a great trend to set when we're still getting our feet wet.
4. Interior defensive line domination, this will be a trend of the season and be vital against GT who tries to establish the dive play to make their offense go.
5. LBs are showing out, Terrence smith may have had his best game in over a year, Northrup is an enforcer in the run game, and Hoskins has been a great contributor for us. Going to need to keep those guys healthy.
6. Secondary is solid, guys aren't running wide open, Brutus is a great deterrent for the deep pass, and Ramsey is a ball hawk that makes us difficult to attack to his side of the field.
Of the possible winning outcomes that we could have had last night, this would have been second on my list behind a blowout of 30 plus to 10 or less. Winning a game 56-20 would have been less of a joy for me because I see this defense as much better than they are being given credit for. I believe that Jimbo will get the kinks worked out, and fortunately, BC probably has the best defense on our schedule that isn't named Clemson.
