So far this year FSU has rushed for over 200 yards in five of the six games.
Do you guys have any idea the last time FSU rushed for over 200 yards in five of six games during the course of the season?
It's crazy.
It was back in 2004.
And if we go back to the last game of last season, against Duke, Florida State has rushed for over 200 yards in six of seven games.
The last time that happened?
I mean, we're going all the way back to the first six games of the 1995 season. With some dudes named Dunn and Preston were getting the ball out of the backfield.
And when, presumably, they rush for over 200 yards against UMass next weekend, that will be the seventh 200-yard rushing effort in eight games.
The last time that happened?
The first eight games of 1993!
Anyway, I'm planning on writing an actual column about these crazy numbers as well, but thought it was interesting enough to share here first.
Don't worry. I'm not arguing that this offense has been great, that it rivals what those 1995 or 1993 offenses accomplished, and yes the record is still the record.
But putting up these kinds of rushing numbers isn't normal at FSU. Clearly. And maybe it's setting a solid foundation of what this offense can be for years to come. We'll see!
Anyway, just thought it was interesting! Carry on.
