Does anyone have it? I've been considering that paired with internet and cutting some money off of my bills.

Try Youtube Tv. It’s relatively inexpensive ($35 per month), has all the sports channels, easy to navigate and has the DVR feature. It is the best service I have tried to this point, including Directv Now.

You've had them both? DT is adding dvr next month, and it seems like their HBO and Showtime add-ons are cheaper.

I’ve had DT Now, YouTube TV and Sony Vue and would rank them YouTube TV, Sony Vue, then DT Now. Although I did just prepay for 3 months DT Now to get a free Apple TV because it was cheaper than buying one outright ($105 vs $180). I believe they still have to promo going so you can grab an Apple TV, sell it and you’d basically be getting a 3 month free trial.

What did you guys like about YouTube? Am I wrong about getting premium channels cheaper on DT?

I have had both. What I liked about YouTube was the singular price point of $35, it’s user friendly and the DVR. I also get HBO and Showtime ala carte from apps on my Roku.
If Directv is adding DVR and had better deals, it sounds like a no brainer.

What did you pay for HBO and Showtime with Roku? I live having DVR,but would probably live a better life without it lol

I haven't tried any of them but I have a friend that has Sling TV and he's been happy with it.

Better than PlayStation Vue? I liked Vue but have't tried YouTube TV. Directv Now would be a hell of a lot better once they get a DVR feature.

I have it now, because of the Apple TV promo. I will leave it when my term is up most likely.

I'm using it on Apple TV, supposedly the best platform for it, and it's still glitchy and clunky. And I'm on the beta for the DVR version...and it's a hot mess. It's so far from ready for prime time, I have little hope that it's going to be available as a stable DVR release in the next couple months. I find myself almost never using it, in favor of the separate apps for the different channels.

And while they in some ways have the best set of channels at the base package, it's not a fit with me, as it doesn't include regional sports or ESPNU until the second level, which I think jumps all the way to $55.

I will say this...when it's working, the picture is beautiful.

Frankly, I'll probably go back to Hulu. Their interface was a mess, but it worked, and for the basic $40/mo it had all the sports channels I needed. Plus you get the Hulu library content, which I did like having, because it gives you basically a massive VOD library. Plus some good original content.

I'll give YoutubeTV a try, but their price is going up to $40. My problem with them is that their login doesn't activate other apps well. For example, if you use WatchESPN, which I do frequently, it has to be reauthorized daily. They may have fixed it.

I had Sling a long time. Their Android TV app was crappy, but the main problem was what it cost to get ESPN and Fox programming...makes it very expensive as just a sports service.

I just signed up for a three month trial this week. So far it works well, but the network options are severely limited here. I get ABC and no others.

The On-Demand features are limited. It works well for me, I've only had one small buffering moment. And paired with an AT&T unlimited cell phone plan it's only 20 dollars a month and includes HBO (Currently I'm just paying 10). I'll try it for the three months at 10/month and then make a determination.

If it had all of the network channels to me it would be a no-brainer. But that's the main limitation for me.

I posted this in the last "cord cutting" thread, but for traditional "home tv" viewing, haven't the bundle prices sortof made this a harder decision?

To use ANY of these services on your TV's, you need internet, and a decent speed: $60
To use them without overages, you need "unlimited" data: $30 add on (ATT)

Then everyone can price out their apps and addons from here, right?

ATT gave me free TV Family plan, which includes up to 5 wireless DVR's, bundled with my internet, and free unlimited data. So, still at $90. for $20 more I bumped it to U200 I think, so my bill is like $120ish.

I have DVR, I don't need DTVNow, Vue, Sling, ($30-40 surcharge) etc for my sports. Have my locals, have my DVR, etc.

I don't feel like I can argue myself out of the Uverse TV service at this point.

I'm in this boat to a degree. I've been spoiled for years having all the DirecTV channels, including premiums, for right at $100. Now it seems they are done with my games lol
In considering moving to my cable supplier who will give me all channels plus internet and phone for $140 after taxes. Thinking seriously about holding on to that until streaming gets the kinks worked out.

DirecTV raised their pricing on January 1st and I think they're more willing to part with the "cut my price or I'll cancel" crowd.

I don't care how good DTV service is, I left them a year ago and "cut the cord" after 20 years with them when they would give me the deal that I have had for so many years. I have been very happy with PS Vue so far. Just hope they add more locals soon.

Yes. The idea that these are easy replacement to save hundreds for everyone is not accurate, especially when paired with higher difficulty of usage factor, glitchiness, different devices, etc. These are not appliances the way people expect from their cable companies.

These are great for people who don't mind futzing around with tech stuff, don't need 100s of channels, already have video game and or streaming devices handy, like the lack of a contract and to be able to bounce around services and devices, etc, and want to save $30-40 mo (in some cases more). For other people, $30-40 a month is NOTHING to have something always work, not eat their data, have a real DVR, have their wife understand how to use it, watch TV if the internet goes down, etc etc.

I've been off cable for years, but I've never once thought these things were a universal replacement for cable subscribers. Hell, I've thought about going back to Dish myself sometimes with some of the insane pricing they have. But I also enjoy it as a hobby, and we're a very light TV family.

I found that if you subscribe to AT&T Cellular on an unlimited plan, you can save a bit.

I get their Fiber internet for 30/month (If you bundle it with your Cellular bill). So far it's better than the cable internet I had before. (I don't yet know if I'm going to run into issues with going over my bandwidth limits using streaming as our only tv option).

DirectTV Now can also be had for $20/month (10/month for the first three months) if you have an unlimited cellular plan.

If you have AT&T Unlimited, HBO is also included for free.

So, if you already have AT&T Unlimited, it's only 50 dollars more for good internet and the base level DirectTV Now service with HBO (Which aside from the lack of local channels is good for me).

I paired it with a couple of Roku Devices and it works great. Easy enough that my wife can even understand how to use it.

The only frustrations I've run into so far are the following:

1. You can only stream DirectTV Now on two devices at once at the lower level price.
2. There isn't a DVR yet, although I hear that's coming, although price increases may come with that.
3. Lack of local channels. Where I live in Pensacola I only get ABC. The rest of them are only available on Demand. So I lose live tv options for sports on those channels (That aren't also streamed in other formats) and almost anything on CBS. While there is some on-demand for CBS with DirectTV Now. It is very limited.

Cables companies now are not holding people to the 2 yr contract and I found you can switch after 6 months between companies (area has cox, xfinity, and fios) and be considered a "new" customer. Get the good intro rates (good for a year) and you can switch after that period is up to another company and continue with intro rates... if, you do not mind doing the switching....

Food for thought....

Looked at DTVnow, hulu and sling and all had buffering issues...

Still on cable for now...
