So was KC doctoring the ball last night or was he just cleaning dirt off his hand?

it'd be cheating if the pitcher did that, but not if any of the other 8 fielders did.

He's not being subtle or trying to hide it so it must be ok. they were expecting potential rain so he probably used it to get a better grip for a throw to second. You'd think it would make dirt stick to his fingers though which to me would be a negative.

As many times as they throw baseballs out, particularly with Chris Young burying pitches in the dirt on every strikeout, it would be a lot of work to keep doctoring every ball.

KC is one of dirtiest teams around. Volquez intentionally hit Springer--breaking his wrist--in the third of a sweep. Cost the Astros the division lead. There should have been a brawl when the Astros when up to KC, but A.J. Hinch doesn't believe in retaliation.

This is my life philosophy - act like you should be doing something and people accept it, whatever it is.

Oh, I'm just picking up these computers for work. They paid. Thanks!

Pfffft. If you're a good team, you fight through injuries. Rios got hit early in the season and broke his hand. Gordon missed two months and the Royals added to the lead. Houston choked on so many levels. And you sound whiny.

Some of us remember the days when players dealt with their issues on the field. Hinch is a wuss. But I'd expect that from someone who played with the Royals during the 30-year wuss time.

This says all I need to know. Why is this even an issue?

Mets manager Terry Collins had no such issue.

"Every catcher in baseball has pine tar on their shin guard," Collins said Wednesday. "And it's for them. It's really hard to transfer that on the ball and have it give the pitcher something to hold onto -- especially as many times as they throw out balls today."

Royals manager Ned Yost made no attempt to hide the usage.

"It's not illegal for a catcher to get an extra grip," Yost said.

"You know what? It's so obvious. The umpires see it, too. ... I don't think there's really enough to put on there that you can wipe it on and throw the ball back to the pitcher to where it's going to affect how the pitcher throws the baseball," Collins
said.
