Do you ever just have a string of bad luck?

Last week it was our dog having to have emergency surgery.

Yesterday, it was finding out a job I'd been hoping to hear about being placed on hold.

Today, it was a huge rock in the road that I didn't see until it was too late and tore up two of my tires and rims.

I think I'll just go home, drink a few beers and go nowhere for the rest of the week. I know CSB.

In the past few months my home AC went out and had to be replaced. I bought my younger daughter a car and had to put brakes on it a month later. My other daughter's car needed a rack and pinion a year ago. I decided to get it fixed instead of buying her a new one. This year her ac went out and she needed tires. My wife's car needed a starter and tires. My truck needed tires. My wife and daughter both recently needed MRIs and CTs for medical issues. The windows in our house needed to be replaced. And I am in the process of getting a blank ton of dental work (crowns) done. All in all I'm guessing I'm about 60k in the hole for all this. But other than that everything is swell...

Yes. Everyone does. That's life.

I often get bad luck to offset good luck, too. My small business had a good month in September and then I got slammed with $750 for car repairs for brakes and tires.

I have no idea how Fathers deal with the bad luck for their families that falls on them...

Oy.

My luck finally turned.

I’m 42.

In the last year my very best friend from high school died.

My favorite cousin that I grew up with like a brother died.

Last week my wife’s first cousin, who was really the only person I really connected with on her family died.

This is garbage.

Edit: The guys mentioned above had much worse luck.

This summer my retina detached . I was out of work and I couldn’t see right for 2 months. I had complications and horrible pain. During
that situation my wife’s dog died. Factor in that I had an investment go south on me and yeah it was definitely a terrible streak.

Not luck, per se, but we have had a run that challenges.
Several relatives have died this year, hoped for work related situations have not happened, a new(ish) neighbor has brought disruptions to a great little group that watches out for each other, Noles football is having to recreate greatness, and I figured out that an esophageal ulcer is messing with me. I have to get it under control or worse can happen.
Honestly, mine/ours are mostly first world problems. Wifey and I have always had all we need, but of course not all that we wanted.

Perspective as someone mentioned. My “bad luck” I guess is minor in the grand scheme of things. Just annoying. I’ve had some anxiety lately about work and the other issues just seemed to add to it a little bit.

One day we're going to wake up and realize we spend waaay too much of our income on transportation.

That was my home AC so that was 7,500 instead of 2,500, but yeah we do...

In the last few months I've had two cortisone shots in my neck to help with a couple of herniated disks and have another scheduled. On top of that, the degenerated disks in my lumbar region are acting up causing pain in my hip and leg.
So I don't leave the dermatologist out of the picture, I've had two squamous cell and one basal cell carcinomas cut out of me in the last 6 weeks.
Getting old sucks when you lived recklessly as a youth.

Yep - run through a rough patch last week with car & house repairs/issues and my daughter's health issues. I was in a real bad place mentally for our retreat (not the usual out going yuk-it-up guy) and I think i was putting off a vibe of "i don't want to be here."

My bad streaks are usually related to things breaking around the house. AC, washer, dryer, dishwasher. Add to that new tires for the Expedition, meniscus surgery, and life’s a peach. If it was rainbows and unicorns all the time, I guess we wound t enjoy the good times as much.

All I got out of that was "My...daughter...needed a rack"

A year ago I had to have 2 molars crowned (the teeth cracked). Now I have 2 more cracked molars that will be crowned in 2 weeks. On going maintenance.

This weekend - Got my ass thoroughly kicked on the tennis court - worst loss in 20 years. FSU lost after a 20 point lead..

Not sure if that qualifies as luck or if you and FSU football just suck.;)

On Saturday, both were true. But usually, neither is the norm....any day now Willie Taggart's lethal simplicity is going to translate into the juggernaut we all hoped for. Cam Akers is done getting blown up in the backfield - that's the last we'll see of that Unlucky sequence of events.

As for me, meh, there's always tomorrow.

A bunch of people whose party bus broke down say, yeah, they've had a string of bad luck.
Ahhgh, shoe. That was a bad run right there.
Told wifey that either... the driver had a health issue, was driving distracted, vehicle troubles, or had a death wish.

I used to be despondent after losses but when Jimbo bailed & found out he was negotiating with A&M all season that really changed my outlook on FSU football. Not bad luck, just a bad team that I can't sulk about b/c coaches are just out for $'s.

Bad runs surely make you appreciate the good ones!

But there’s a blessing somewhere in those bleak times, just gotta look for it

Things can always be worse!
