I am sitting at an airport bar and I get carded. The waiter says, "I have to be sure you are 21." I replied, "Times what...2.5?"

I know I dont look like I am about to celebrate my second 25th birthday, but under 21? Not even close. Is this guy looking for a bigger tip asking a woman for ID? Does this happen to men too?

What say ye, LR wise men?

Some places card everybody. It's not how you look.

The correct answer to any women asking this question is “Of course you barely look 21”.

Having said that I get carded all the time as a 42 yo man.

I am 39 and still get carded at some places but I do look much younger than my age.

I have noticed that restaurants and bars seem to card everyone now no matter how they look.

I still get carded some, fall into the 40+ group. I'd say half the time the person is just going through a programed script. It's more irritating that anything.

I just cup my ear and ask "HUH?" and many times they put 2+2 together.

I live in PA. It’s the law that you’re to be carded when purchasing beer in grocery stores, and cashiers are always on top of that.

In the state-run stores, which only sell wine and hard liquor, I’m probably carded 50% of the time (and I certainly don’t look young).

Other than events sponsored by our town where they card everyone, I can't remember the last time I was carded, but then I have grey hairs on my head that are more than 21 years old.

I get carded more than I'd expect at age 67. If it's a guy, I usually ask if he's making a joke.

If it's a young lady, she gets a wink and a bigger tip, and I tell her she made my day. ;)

I got carded at Publix a couple years ago when buying a bottle of wine. I'm am over 50 and I know I don't look anywhere near under 30.

They are looking for your address.....then they text it to the other members of the robbery ring.....they know you won't be home for awhile.....

They can have it. Saves this Baby Boomer from de-cluttering. I mean, it's not as if I have a world class collection of ascots or anything.

Truth.
If anybody will carry stuff out of our house, more power to ‘em.
The more I am around selling other people’s stuff, the less stuff do I want.
(Leave the music and the old cat, please.)

41 and only occasionally. Mostly from new cashiers at Publix or at Target. Target cards everybody.

45 and I don't think I've been carded by anyone who wasn't forced to do it for fear of losing their job in at least a decade. I've gotten pretty gray the last five years, so my head is pretty much my ID these days.

Same here. I just show them the back of my white head

I have too much salt mixed in with the pepper to get carded these days. Plus having grown kids with me is usually a dead giveaway that I am old.

Was just in Utah about a month ago where it's the law everyone gets carded regardless of age so yes..Bartender was telling us she made the mistake of not carding a 57 year old Undercover ABT Agent a few months back and it cost her around 1500 dollars in fines..that place has some wacky booze laws..no draft beer over 4 percent ABV...can't be served a drink in a restaurant till you order food and it's been delivered to your table..SMH..not running back there anytime soon

67 with mostly gray, thinning hair. Got carded several months ago. They said it was just policy to card everyone. Other than that it has been about 30 years.

That is the only downside to skiing in Utah, along with a flat middle of the mountain. But $1500 is just crazy!
