Let's break this down a little.
What did Jimbo's offense look like on Saturday? What did Jimbo's offense look like in 2012? How many losses have we had the last 2 years compared to the previous 10?
Winston was a transcendent player. The best qb that ever played here and the number 1 overall pick, a feat nobody has accomplished at the elite program that is FSU. Winston won us a national title (an 80 yard game winning drive to boot) and carried the team on his back in 2014. We lose 2-3 games in the regular season last year without Winston. We had a butt average defense the entire year and no running game until mid-late in the year. We would have spent the holiday season at the Chik-fil-A bowl, not the Rose bowl if not for Jameis.
Fast forward to the present. Winston is rookie and played poorly today. He has yet to adjust to the athleticism in the NFL as exemplified by his 2nd int. He plays on a terrible team that will compete for a top 5 draft pick again. That OL in front of him is one the of the worst if not the worst in the league.....He will play better. Next week is another game.
Now let's compare him to Mariota. Marcus played well today but he plays on a different team with different coaching. The offensive line is worlds better on the Titans than the Bucs. The coaching on Tenn isn't asking Mariota to do anything he couldn't do in college. His completions today were to open receivers in the middle of the field. He was in the shotgun a ton and ran the read option. Let's see how long that stuff works in the NFL before he gets killed or he can't move the ball anymore. RGIII and Colin Kaepernick looked great too at first. Furthermore Winston went against Dick LeBeau and the Titan's defense and Mariota went against the Buc's and their archaic Tampa 2.
This is going to be a long process. We won't know how good Winston can be in the NFL until year 2-3.
