Do you do anything special to avoid them? Park in the back of the lot? Take up two spots? (I guess using the handicap spots is out now.)

And deep down are you a little relieved when you get one or two so you can stop worrying about your car?

It depends on the parking lot. Typically I try to park on the end so I only have to worry about one side of the car. I can also pull in so I am a little farther from the vehicle next to me. If I need to park between vehicles, I try to make sure they are both cars and not big trucks.

Unfortunately I have a few small dings, but having only 3 or 4 in 6 years isn't too bad.

I intentionally park next to cars and wait for someone to ding me, then hop out and confront them...with my CCW, of course.
reminds me a little of the line from Pulp Fiction where Travolta says something like It’d been worth him doing it just so I could’ve caught him doing it.

1. Try to park next to premium vehicles only. Their own self-interest will save your car. Clunker owners don't care about rapping your coveted beamer.
2. Avoid SUVs. They equal kids and soccer moms who will recklessly and absent-mindlessly destroy your shiny new Benz.
3. If you have a choice, park on the passenger side of a vehicle. Most cars have just a driver.

Sage advice.

Park way out and walk in. The other choice is to park far left or right. Most will circle the lot looking for close to the doors and settle for the middle.
Look at the shape of the parked cars next time you pull in. It is a triangle wide close to the building and narrowing out at the center as distance increases.

This is what I normally do. However, the cops told me this is why my car got stolen. I ordered a 335i convertible BMW custom. Parked it all the way at the end of my office parking lot in an end spot to avoid dings. Apparently, the parts are expensive, and people race these cars, and my whip got stolen. They found my car 10 hours later on concrete blocks burned up. At least my FSU plate wasn’t burned!!

Cop said parking far away will avoid dings, but you are also away from any cameras, etc.

I still park far away though, glutton for punishment :)

^^This. or buy a large truck like my F250. The running boards are tall enough off the ground to catch the doors before they hit the paint. When all else fails, when you have your concealed carry permit, shoot out their windows then leave fast.

Park you car, get out - then don't worry about it. Shit happens.
But then, I didn't spend 1/3 the cost of a single family home on my car....

This is my thought too. My vehicles are for commuting. I do my best to minimize damage but can’t worry too much about door dents or pebbles hitting the windshield.

It would kill me if I’d spent $60k on the car though.
