Any recommendations for interesting things to see and do?

Might have a little free time and wondering if anyone has some can't miss or hidden gems in the central city area.

Thanks

I really enjoyed Kilmainham Goal. The red or green tourist buses drop off right outside.

Kilmainham Gaol
(Irish: Príosún Chill Mhaighneann) is a former prison in Kilmainham, Dublin, Ireland. It is now a museum run by the Office of Public Works, an agency of the Government of Ireland. Many Irish revolutionaries, including the leaders of the 1916 Easter Rising, were imprisoned and executed in the prison by the British, and in 1923 by the Irish Free State.

If you want to see awesome Irish dancing and music, go to the bar in the bottom level of the Arlington Hotel. It's at the foot of the O'Connell bridge. They have dancing and music 7 nights a week.

I would also check out Croke Park, Trinity College, and the Guinness Factory. If you like Irish arts, check out the Irish Writers Museum and also the GPO on your way there.

It's hard to have a bad time anywhere in Ireland. If you have the time, you really should drive out west. Dublin is really just a generic city and not nearly as beautiful as the rest of Ireland.

A taxi driver insisted we go see this place, and we're REALLY glad we did:
"With free admission and described by the Lonely Planet as not just the best museum in Ireland, but one of the best in Europe, the Chester Beatty Library is a must-see on any Dublin visitor's itinerary. As the only museum in Ireland to win 'European Museum of the Year' and rated at number 2 in TripAdvisor’s list of recommended Dublin cultural attractions, the library's rich collections from countries across Asia, the Middle East, North Africa and Europe open a window on the artistic treasures of the great cultures and religions of the world."

I agree with this. Shannon, Cork, and some of the other areas in western Ireland are way better than Dublin. Dublin is geared for the tourists. Get into some of the really small Irish villages and you get to see what life is really like over there

Definitely Trinity College where you will see the Book of Kells - Matthew, Mark, Luke & John. Lots of day bus tours to see the countryside which is beautiful.

Guinness brewery tour at St. James Gate is a must. But in general, Guinness tastes so much better anywhere in Ireland.
