Edmund Fitzgerald

Thanks Kellogg. That song and the story was big in earlier days for me and my buddies.

That good ship and true, was a bone to be chewed
When the gales of November came early
As the big freighters go, it was bigger than most
With a crew and good captain well seasoned

Thanks for sharing. It is cool hearing my parents talk about it. They were still living in Ohio at the time. Great song as well.

Freshmen year at fsu I did a research paper on this ship. Don't know why I choose it but learned a lot.

My Dad used to work for Northwestern Mutual Life and we lived in Milwaukee in the 1970s. I learned this song in 1977 in chorus in school and never realized at the time that it was such a recent event. A testament to a really well written folk sng. One day when I was at my Dad's office, I noticed they had plaques up of the past presidents and one of them was named Edmund Fitzgerald. It turns out the ship was named for him and was owned by NML.
