Very cool. I've never been to Lake Superior (or Huron), just Lake Michigan, Eerie and Ontario. Those were impressive enough.

My Dad used to work for Northwestern Mutual Life and we lived in Milwaukee in the 1970s. I learned this song in 1977 in chorus in school and never realized at the time that it was such a recent event. A testament to a really well written folk sng. One day when I was at my Dad's office, I noticed they had plaques up of the past presidents and one of them was named Edmund Fitzgerald. It turns out the ship was named for him and was owned by NML.
