I've never been a fan of Trickett's offensive line scheme, but maybe I just don't understand enough about it. I see teams with less talent and experience pushing the D line back and having success in the running game with guys that couldn't carry Dalvin's jock. Their rb's are successful because of huge holes in the defense, not because they can break tackles.
So my questions are:
1) How many NFL teams run the Trickett scheme?
2) Do we run this scheme because of the size of the guys we are recruiting or because it is a superior scheme?
3) Are we not able to get recruits to FSU that can just handle the DT at will?
4) If we are trying to have OL that can run with the RB down the field and throw blocks 20 yards past scrimmage, is that trade-off worth it when those OL get knocked backwards in pass pro?
No sarcasm intended. Just making observations and wanting to better understand what to expect.
