where do you guys buy ethanol free gas here in Tallahassee? Just bought a generator and, although the manual says it will run fine on 10% ethanol, I'd prefer to run it on straight gasoline.

I live in Betton Hills so any Northside location would be more convenient.

Thanks in advance,

Maxwells out at Mahan and Crump used to be a spot for no Ethanol...not sure currently.

If most places are sold out Eli Roberts on Lake Bradford Road is the distributor and they have pumps

Maxwells still sells it. It's where we get gas for the boat. My boyfriend waited in line about 30 min last night for the truck to deliver more. May be out again by now, though.

Inland on North Monroe just north of I-10 and the Walmart, but I'm pretty sure they're out of gas or were this morning when I dropped my kids off at Daycare just up the street from there. I don't know if they have any ethanol-free gas left, though. It's a separate pump at the back of the gas station.

Generator will run just fine on regular gas, just don't leave the gas in the generator. Run it until it's dry and then store it completely empty. All that happens is the carb gums up and next time you use it you'll have to do some service on that and possibly some seals.

Ran mine for 68 straight hours last year on regular gas (just a cheapo 4000W harbor freight genny) and had zero problems. Fired it up again a couple months back when we lost power for a day and had no problems at all. I typically put a little fuel in and run it about once every 3-4 months just to make sure it's working fine.

Ethanol-free is always better than regular 10% ethanol gas, especially in small engines that don't run very often. But in this case, it's not the end of the world if you don't find ethanol-free gas.

Agree with DMM. It will run just fine on ethanol gas, just don't leave any in it.

I'd add that if you keep ethanol in a gas can, put stabilizer in the can. Ethanol tends to separate, and also attracts water. I try to keep a 5 gallon can of non-ethanol gas to feed my 1 and 2 gallon cans for my small engines.

Just called the Shell station at 1610 W Tennessee St (Tennessee St. and Stadium Dr) and they have an Ethanol Free pump and they have gas...

Going to run over there around lunch time.

Thanks for all the advice.

Can I safely drink the separated ethanol if I run out of liquor??

For your gen, when you want to turn it off kill the gas not the kill switch. This will run the gas out of your carb and keep you from getting water build up.

I have a Honda EU3000 and this is what everyone recommends.

Thanks again for all the recommendations... I got some ethanol free gas today at the Shell station on Tennessee Street by Stadium Drive.

No problems. Quick and easy.

Now we just hope for the Hurricane to keep heading East so I only have to use the generator at tailgates...
