Everyone get their black eyed peas today?

I agree wth funk. I'm not superstitious; I just really like some of the traditions I grew up with. This is one of my favorites.
Never had these traditions I guess. This is what I made today with Gruyere Asiago Au Gratin potatoes.

I wish I could "like" that more than once - it looks really good!

I grew up having black eyed peas and cornbread every year. I went to the Cotton Bowl a lot and even there they had vendors out on New Year's morning selling it. Was a good part of growing up.

That was one expensive piece of meat. Herb butter encrusted prime rib was amazing. Was nervous about doing it on the cooker though.

Nah. My wife made pasta from and tiramisu from scratch. It was glorious.

I think I got a minibuzz from the rum that had settled to the bottom layer of the tiramisu.

Mmmm, homemade tiramisu. Its a labor, but worth it. I have never made pasta from scratch, does it taste that much different than boxed? Perhaps i will try to test.

It's not the same food. Homemade pasta makes the boxed stuff taste like plastic.

It's a big pain in the butt, so we only make it once or twice a year.

We went with blacke eyes, greens, corn bread, and smoked chops. Gotta have it.
The kicker was the apple pie my nephew specializes in, home made ice cream, and brother’s sour cream pound cake. Dang.

Had some, I’ll take the luck.

What’s the story behind blacked eyed peas for good luck? And they eat more like a bean than a pea.

My family doesn’t really follow any of the New Year’s traditions as we don’t make a big deal of it. Just stay up for NYE and watch the ball drop and then enjoy football and the Rose Bowl parade on New Year’s Day. So we just watched some football eating some leftover pizza and then went to Ted’s for steaks for dinner.

Damn, I've been getting the tradition all wrong!

I knew someone else would do it first. I didn't want to be that guy but was listening to them yesterday because of this thread. She is so smoking hot.
