the last 4 plus weeks has seen the Florida numbers go from 5000 - 10,000 a day.
The death number just do not seem to correlate .. crazy low compare to the test positives ..

We are in the peak or within 14 days of the peak of the second wave and we are 600 deaths for the nation and 90 for Florida .. the numbers have increase 2-3 fold lately to 75-125 .. yes but that is still not a large amount .. and would not cause the football to be cancelled and the business to close again.

we are not out of the woods but today was a good day and the last week has seen numbers above 100 but still manageable ..
550 deaths a day is normal and
90 died with COVID .. not because of Covid but with covid ..
again if these numbers are close to as bad as it gets ... it is not bad .. lets all keep hoping these numbers hold through the next 14 days .. if so it is game on boys and girls

3 million die every year in the US. I don't think anyone on here is trying to tip the scales in favor of Covid, just be safe and responsible. We all want what's best for those around us more than ourselves. 1. Where a mask in public, 2. Social distance, 3. Don't be a richard. Until recently the latter 2 were my mantra anyways.

There has been a drop in Covid related emergency room visits and in the weekly positivity results in Florida. That's good but it's too early to predict what happens next. South Florida remains a mess - especially Dade county. Tomorrow, AstraZeneca releases the details of its Phase 1 trials for its vaccine (developed at Oxford in the UK). The buzz is very strong. The anti-bodies response in humans to the vaccine has been described as robust, with Killer T cells that last for quite a while. The vaccine is already in Phase 3 trials. Stock market futures will be interesting when it starts at 6 pm today, although AstraZeneca already had quite large bump in stock price last week.

Wear those masks!
Believe me. From now on, I don't go anywhere without a mask.... Some of Tallahassee's motel rooms have already been mysteriously hit by some rank odor; some calling it an Agent Orange 69 derivative. From Nam to Monroe? Who would have thought.

I am pretty close to some that are most in the know (but could be crazy wrong) .. the large hospital groups.

I was told we are 4 weeks into either a 8 to 12 week event .. that we should see cases start dropping over the next 14 days or after the next 14 days. Cases should be down DRAMATICALLY and back to normal somewhere between 08/15 and 09/15. so we are about 4-8 weeks away from the cases going back to normal

The death rate may be known by NOW and should for sure in the 14 days ... say by 07/31. I am not sure your correct .. we may already be at the peak and know the peak death rate .. but if not we are very close say by 07/31
By 07/31 the death rate should be just peaked or dropping .. and we should know where we are. If the deaths stay around 1000 for the country and 100-150 for florida .. and then start dropping .. game on .. we just need to see how the next 14 days plays out ..

yesterday was good - Saturday and today (sunday) is great .. 5 pm and the numbers are 90 for florida and 315 for the whole nation .. really low numbers

I agree. I’m surprised 45 states are basically done with C19. 20 plus states a day have zero deaths and about 25 states a day have less than 15. These look like normal death rates. I am surprised FL isn’t averaging less than 25 deaths a day. California is looking really good. We know why they are not back opened to completely normal. I have half my team out with C19 They are all doing fine. Some have a slight cold. I hope to have them all back in 10 days. But again you are correct. No reason to not have a normal football season. I am sure we will have an immune team by the time the season starts. My people are careful and they all caught it. 20 yo kids are going to get it for sure.

Great article. These facts are not going to go well on the board.

Why make statements like that? Who in their literal right mind, that’s worth anything, is going to be happy if we aren’t seeing improvement?

Hey folks. I was that guy that thought the mask was dumb and overkill when this started. Have'nt seen my parents since Febuary. The sooner we accept the new norm the sooner we can get back to some sort of normal. I genuinely hope everyone on this board takes the precautions they should, I'm doing my part despite being "that guy" when this started. I wish all of you the best. Go Noles!!

It’s sarcasm Man. Take a chill pill. FYI there are a lot of Debbie Downers on this board.

You guys are taking the weirdest most premature victory lap of all time. Deaths are up over 300% in a month and that number isn’t slowing down. I’d be shocked if we got to NY/NJ numbers bc medicine has advanced and we realize how essential it is to protect assisted living facilities. Still, I wouldn’t be surprised if our average deaths per day get to 130 by this week.

I was being very conservative regarding trying to figure out exactly where we are at with the slope of the curve. It's going to take a few more days (in my view) to validate the claim that it is clearly downward. But no doubt, the spike of new cases that started in mid June has not yet created a matching spike in deaths.

As I noted above, AstraZeneca disclosed today the details of its 1000 patient Phase 1 vaccine trials. Extremely positive. We won't know the results of Phase 3 for a while (Its already started), but production of the supply chain to distribute the vaccine is being done now as if this will work. It's a financial gamble. Dr. Fauci two weeks ago stated that a financial risk like this has never been done before, but it's not impacting the speed of the testing for safety and effectiveness. All testing is going at the FDA required cautious pace.

There will be multiple vaccines approved by this year i bet. Moderna’s Stage III trial begins enrollment in a week. I wonder if the NFL (and college football) may consider delaying the season 6-8 weeks with hopes that an approved vaccine could allow for fans in the latter part of the season.

OP not sure how the rest of the State is doing, but in South Florida the hospitalizations and ICUs are increasing to capacity.

Right on point Q!

It’s incredible the amount of people that minimize the virus acting like it’s going to disappear.

I read two weeks ago that the distribution will be regulated so that the first responders and health professionals get it first. After that I forgot what I read about teachers, the elderly, etc. I don't recall seeing sports near the top.

They shouldn’t be. I mean if the AZN vaccine is approved and production is as robust as they’ve said perhaps by mid Dec it’s available to anyone. But who the hell knows.

Death numbers up 400% now from a little over a month ago. Just hoping this is the peak but set a new record today.
