Foolproof plan to change CFP (and SECSPN likely would push this into fruition)

I did something similar last year.

Here is another plan that can change how the CFP can be tweaked to ensure a "true" National Champ

The brass at SECSPN would certainly sign on as long as the rest of the P5 and Group of 5 conferences are on board.

Expand the playoff to 8 teams.

The SEC EAST champ will play the SEC WEST champ.

Both the winner AND loser automatically qualify for the playoff, regardless.

The SEC EAST runner up AND 3rd place team qualify automatically.

The SEC WEST runner up AND 3rd and 4th place teams qualify automatically.

This gives you 7 teams total.

The CFP commitee AND ESPN will select the single at-large team, using the same criteria as they did this past year.

Only teams that have a "quality loss" are eligible for the at-large bid.

If you are undefeated P5 team OR the ACC champ, you are simply not eligible until the ACC is viable enough to sustain its own ACC Network, which ESPN and John Swofford and ACC front offices will "work on" for a substantial period of time.

So, here would be the 8 teams that qualified for the playoff last year:

Auto qualifiers:
Alabama (SEC WEST and SEC Champ)
Missouri (SEC EAST Champ)
UGA (SEC East 2nd place)
UF (SEC East 3rd place)
Miss State (SEC West 2nd place)
Ol Miss (SEC West 3rd place)
Auburn (SEC West 4th place)
Oregon (at large)

The first round could look like this:
#1 Bama vs. #8 Oregon (surely the single at-large team would be seeded lowest)
#2 Missouri vs. #7 Auburn
#3 UGA vs #6 Miss St
#4 Ol Miss vs #5 UF

Caveat: If the single at-large team should "win" their first round game vs the #1 overall seed and SEC Champion, they would automatically forfeit the game due to the fact the that #1 seed and SEC champ could then claim they had a "quality loss" and advance to the semi-finals

After the first round, who the hell cares what other teams advance.

You would have 4 SEC teams each year as the Final 4.

The ratings in places like Mississippi, Alabama, and Gainesville would simply be off the charts for the Final 4.

No one could claim any bias, as we all know that the SEC is simply the best conference ever created
