For the older folks, just the near mention of Foot Locker (aka Free Shoes University) will send a chill up your spine. A free shrimp dinner, some shoes and clothes and FSU found itself on two years of probation for being infiltrated by sports agents. FSU responded with implementing programs for player awareness that are now copied on campuses all over the country.
Hell, at the time, the main stream media reported the story as if it was only a "Florida State University problem". You have to remember, there was no Facebook, Twitter, Instagram...at that time. The media slant did impact FSU's recruiting efforts.
Since that time, "Tank Black and UF". Enough said here. Research it. No need to explain more. Major violations/No Punishment.
Now here we are again with colleges and treatment of women. FSU announces a new social responsibility course that provides one credit hour and is mandatory for FSU Football athletes. The mainstream media again painted this as a "Florida State Problem". The social responsibility course will also be something that is copied by other schools all over this country.
After figuring out how long the mainstream media hid the Tennessee story just baffles me. The fact that it takes a federal investigation to learn about it is just downright sickening.
Along the same line, maybe UF can give a course on how they squashed the T. Harris rape incident in less than 1 week last year. Or maybe a freedom of information act request to UF will finally tell us how they were actually able to pull that off.
