fantastic weather for it today on Mars. 3 deg F high. -99 deg F low.

watching NASA vs SpaceX test missions is like watching College Hockey vs NHL.

the mission control audio as they progress through mission stages is spectacular, especially with how apathetic they are at the point of failure.

What is the relationship between Space X and NASA? I believe Space X uses the launch pads at kennedy? Do they share any(other) facilities, employees etc?

SpaceX now has several significant contracts with NASA. It almost seemed like NASA saw them as a novelty but was willing to take a chance on them. NASA gave Boeing a crap ton of money for the starliner project that failed miserably, meanwhile SpaceX received a lower level of funding from NASA to produce a craft to shuttle astronauts to/from the ISS that they delivered on.

SpaceX seems to be more focused on low orbit and extreme distance missions and not too much in between? The SpaceX starlink global internet project could revolutionize how we connect. They are leaps and bounds ahead of Amazon and their similar project. Yay, more connected monopolies! lol

Wow...that Starlink project...very ambitious!

it's not cheap but it's working very well for the early adopters. best game in town for those in remote locations under the view of the satellites. it's about 500 bucks for the complete dish / modem / router / cabling combo and then 99 bucks per month for service. currently makes not much sense for those in well populated areas but an absolute must have if you need a proper broadband connection and are out in the boonies.

if / when Amazon's version eventually comes to fruition its planned receiver dish is more desirable than the starlink dish but i'm far less inclined to believe Amazon will have privacy in mind where my general browsing data is concerned.
