Ground breaking stuff here.

“It’s been quite a mystery,” Gilbert said. “Replication seemed resilient to everything we tried to do to perturb it. We’ve described it in detail, shown it changes in different cell types and that it is disrupted in disease. But until now, we couldn’t find that final piece, the control elements or the DNA sequences that control it.”

very cool stuff

well poo...

I was all excited because I thought this was the guy I met when my daughter graduated. Turns out her prof was Dr. Dennis. HIs class was one of the first in the country that got to do hands on experiments with CRISPR.

Is CRISPR that thing which you can fry chicken without oil?
it's how they are going to one day grow chickens that are pre-fried. Otherwise, what's the point of science?

BTW, the student in my link is my oldest daughter. She was completely stoked to be in that class.

So cool about your daughter in that class.
Seems a far cry from the "fruit fly" experiments we did while at FSU.
