Now if we could get the rest of TV and Music to ban him...
This will bring Cman out to white knight his all time favorite band. And I continue to believe that Kiss may be the most overrated rock band ever. They've gotten more out of less than any other group.
Kudos to Gene Simmons for staying fully committed to his shtick even at 68 years old!

I like Jimmy Buffet. I agree he has marketed his shtick out the wazoo but I do like his music.Kiss and Jimmy Buffet both come to mind. Two multiplatinum, megabuck acts literally raking in money from their giant commercial empires off of legions of fans...and together they combine to have barely enough musical talent to compete against a middle school band.
Sometimes there’s talents no one can deny regardless of genre Aretha Franklin, Michael Jackson, Frank Sinatra, etc... Sometimes there’s musical geniuses who are maybe overshadowed by their genre but still the talent shines through and they’re innovators like Kurt Cobain, Bob Marley, Trent Reznor etc... And sometimes you get untalented hacks who through great music producers and great marketing teams become megastars with not a single ounce of singing or playing ability. And the best two examples I can think of are Kiss and Jimmy Buffet. There are others like the Monkees, Britney Spears etc..., but they don’t last decades and decades with fame unworn like Kiss and Buffet.

Part of what is cool about Buffet is he knows it and owns it. He has said many times he's not a great singer or guitar player. He promotes a lifestyle and knows how to entertain a crowd and he built an empire on it.Have you ever made the mistake of listening to him live either in person or on the Buffet XM Channel? He is a flat out terrible singer who can’t hold or even hit a note even when staying in a strict one and a half octave range.
His produced music where they cover up his terrible singing and guitar playing abilities I do like. It’s catchy, fun little nothings to play while you drink some cocktails on a boat or sitting at a restaurant on a dock. But his personal talent levels are pathetic (other than marketing and business in general in which case he’s a feckan genius).

Trent Reznor?? He flat out admits he was going for the shock factor, wasn’t necessarily focused on the music. He’s also not a mucsian on the levels of being famous like all the others...the good ones and bad ones. He sold a few records back in his day, just like 100s of others.
On Gene...I actually like the LLC idea. I might take his advice.
Ace Frehley > Mark KnophlerThere Prince Valiant is!
