As long as we’re doing this, Harvest in Louisville closed. Great restaurant, but the shutdown was too much for them.

Been to Stroud's in Missouri, Top Notch in Austin and The Old Country Store. I liked Stroud's the best but its all opinion.

Best F/C place in Tampa?

The best fried chicken in Tampa is about 45 mins away in Fred’s Market Restaurant to the east in Plant City or Yoder’s Amish restaurant in Sarasota. Both of those are destination drives equivalent to some of the best fried chicken anywhere.

Tampa itself doesn’t have any destination level places that I’ve found. But the best is the Mr. B’s Cafe, Mama’s Southern Soul Food, and to a lesser extent the “Chicago Style” Kay’s Kitchen.

What Yoder’s which also has the best pie (not arguable) in the state along with arguably the best fried not chicken looks like

What Fred’s Market Restaurant with the best buffet fried chicken along with other great Southern hits on the buffet may look like (video doesn’t feature the fried chicken which is stupid, it’s their best thing and has been for decades under the previous restaurant name Buddy Freddy’s)

What Mr B’s Cafe hot honey fried chicken (you can get the plain fried chicken but the hot honey is close to but not as good as the famous FSU honey chicken that lands recruits looks like

What Mama’s Southern Soul Food’s fried chicken looks like

What Kay’s Kitchen fried chicken may look like (warning for real Southerners, Kay’s claims to be Chicago style fried fish and chicken just like Hip Hop Fish & Chicken in Tally, so it’s a Yankee’s idea of what Southern Soul Food is brought back down to the South….I’d stick with the authentic stuff, but for our Midwesterners who lack the ability to appreciate spice it might be the preferred option).

There's a place in my hometown, that makes damn good fried chicken - about as good as any I've had. The lady who owns it worked in the kitchen for a number of years at the old BuddyFreddy's when it was a single location owned by the Johnson family....The Freddy in BuddyFreddys is Fred that Tribe mentioned above.
BuddyFreddys original location was in Plant City, near where Fred's Market is located; it was owned by two brothers. They expanded to multiple locations & Buddy got into politics and out of the restaurant business; Freddy eventually sold to a corporate group & retired - until his non-compete clause was up, then he opened up Fred's Market.

Anyone who worked in BuddyFreddy’s kitchen has probably fried 100,000+ chickens and done it exceeding well. I’d trust her.
