FSU’s Uplifting Athletes will Hold Lift For Life Event on July 23 The Seminole chapter is looking to raise $15,000 for Fanconi anemia research
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. –The Florida State Chapter of Uplifting Athletes will hold its Second Annual Lift For Life event on July 23 at 4 p.m. at the Albert J. Dunlap Indoor Practice Facility.
Lift For Life is the signature fundraising event for the Uplifting Athletes nationwide network of 25 college football student-athlete led chapters.
The Seminoles Chapter will continue its mission of raising awareness and research dollars for Fanconi anemia.
"The Florida State Football team is honored and excited to perform in the Lift for Life event, in order to raise money for the research of Fanconi anemia, a cause very close to our hearts due to the impact Ethan's battle against Fanconi anemia has had on our team," redshirt freshman center Alec Eberle said.
Former tight end Kevin Haplea founded the Florida State in 2013. The Seminoles chose Fanconi anemia as their rare disease to champion in order to support FSU head coach Jimbo Fisher, whose one son Ethan is battling this rare disease. All chapter proceeds benefit Fanconi anemia research through the Kidz1stFund.
Last year the Florida State Chapter held its first Lift For Life event, but has also held four Touchdown Pledge Drives in support of FA research including the 2014 BCS National Championship Game and the 2015 College Football Playoff Semifinal at the Rose Bowl.
The Florida State Lift For Life event is open to the public. Fans are encouraged to come out and support the 2015 Seminoles football team as they help inspire the rare disease community.
The chapter is asking attending fans to contribute $10 per adult and $5 for children and students. The suggested donation collected at the entrance will go towards the Seminoles’ fundraising event total.
Florida State Chapter supporters and fans can also pledge their support online and select a position group to donate towards or make a general donation to the Seminoles Chapter.
