The Good

With the win, Florida State ends a three game losing streak improving to 14-12 overall, 8-7 ACC. It was the first ACC home win since beating WF on January 10th. For three quarters of the game, it was a back and forth contest with 8 ties and 19 lead changes by my count. Neither team built more than a five point lead to that point in the game often with each team leading by just one. But with 10:08 to play and trailing 61-60, the Seminoles went on a 10-0 run and took control of the game. The result was a season sweep of the Eagles and a much needed victory for the 'Noles who are just a half game out of 4th place in the conference.

This certainly was nothing like the 63-62 contest between the two teams two weeks ago as each team made their first five baskets.

Jamir Watkins with his 5th career double double. His 22 points was the high scorer of the game that included 3 of 4 from three point land. The 11 rebounds was also a game high.

Chandler Jackson celebrated his birthday With a career high 19 points on 7 of 10 shooting, the same was Watkins.

Cameron Corhen got his second start of the season and contributed 13 points. Jalen Warley also with 13 on 4 of 6 shooting. He dished out 5 assists as well.

FSU back to creating offense from its defense. Normally a team that takes pretty good care of the ball (10.4 turnovers per game), Boston College had 16 miscues that turned into 21 points for the 'Noles.

Coming into the contest, part of the game plan was to chase BC off the three point line. It sure did not look like it in the first half with Boston College dropping three pointers "from the parking lot" as Leonard Hamilton said post game. The Eagles connected on 6 of 11 from the arc over the first 20 minutes. The second half was much different as BC was just 3 of 11 in the final period. Of note was the defense on Mason Madsen who had 3 FGs from the arc in the first half. The defense adjusted and he had just one the rest of the game.

FSU at the FT line. The Seminoles did a much better job in this game at getting to the line. 21 of 29 compared to 11-16 by BC.

Plays of the game: Jackson's drive to the basket from the left of the lane and flipping the ball in with a defender on his back giving him a new career high and FSU's largest lead, 82-70. The lucky "shot" by Corhen that occurred when the defender knocked the ball away as Corhen was falling away but somehow the ball found the basket. Taylor Bol Bowen with the three from the right corner where the BC defense "forgot" about him. When you are 3 of 24 from the arc it should no be any wonder they "forgot" about you. Warley with the alley oop to Bol Bowen and the slam dunk, 39-34. It was FSU's largest lead to that point. Corhen beats the BC 2-3 zone with jumper at the FT line, 50-47. Good job getting the ball to him. That ended the zone defense very quickly. Warley with the steal going coast to coast for the lay up plus the foul, 68-61. Corhen with the offensive board, passes to Warley under the basket who then dribbles into the lane drawing two defenders leaving Corhen all alone to receive the pass and the slam dunk. It finished off a 10-0 run giving FSU a 70-61 lead.

The Bad

OK, FSU's offense did pretty well tonight shooting 55% including 7-18 (38%) from the arc. Unfortunately BC shot 52% and 41% from the arc. Not exactly a junkyard dog kind of defense.

Despite Watkins' rebounding, the Seminoles still lost the battle of the boards, 29-27.

Darin Green Jr out for the game with a shoulder injury. Let's hope that does not last long.

No Primo Spears either. Who knows what that was about.

Attendance listed as 6,009. If you say so. Must have been a few thousand dressed as seats.

Should be interesting if we ever find out what that FSU fan said to one of the refs that got him ejected. You don't see that happen every day.

The Ugly

Baba Miller fouling Quintin Post 45 feet from the basket. Sometimes it is necessary to take the foul. This was not one of those times.

Miller dribbling the ball off his leg and OB.

Miller with a three point shot from the right wing that would have been good .... had the basket been three feet more to the left.

This is happening much too often. Meaning passes to the invisible teammate that sail OB as was the case with Watkins' pass to goodness knows who. Somewhere (not to be confused with the song from West Side Story) someone isn't communicating with someone else.

One of those adjustments mentioned at halftime I am guessing involved no one getting back to cover Madsen and one of his three pointers, 41-40 BC.

Not to mention the defensive breakdown that saw BC's sixth three to tie the game right before intermission at 43 all.
