Spoke with David Coburn for a few minutes after the ACC Tournament was cancelled. Here are some of his comments about spring sports schedules and more:
Any changes planned for spring sports going forward?
Says the ACC will likely be unified. "I don't think those decision will be made by schools in isolation. I think we'll make those decisions together."
How quickly will a decision be made?
Hopes it will be today or tomorrow: "We're gonna have to get on that fast because we've got teams traveling now and teams that are getting ready to travel."
How the players today handled the tourney being cancelled:
"They were disappointed. But they carried it with some class. I was very proud of them. They're going to be terribly disappointed if we don't get to go to the Big Dance."
How chaotic have the last 24 hours been?
"As chaotic as you can imagine."
An hour before tipoff today, were you still thinking these games would be played?
"Once the other conferences started cancelling, it became pretty clear that something was going to change. With what happened in the NBA last night, everybody became more and more concerned about the welfare of the players."
We'll have more reaction from FSU coming.
