Softball coach Lonni Alameda announced the signing of infielder Annie Potter. Potter spent the last three seasons at Mercer where she was a primary starter in 2021 and 2022.
During her time at Mercer, Potter started 101 games in 2021 and 2022 as the team's primary shortstop. She hit .267 with a .320 on-base percentage while driving in 40 runs in her two seasons with the Bears. In 2021, Potter started 46 games for the Bears and hit .274 with 18 RBI and one home run. Potter also posted a .920 fielding percentage as the team's starting shortstop. Her impressive numbers earned her a spot on the All-Southern Conference Freshmen Team and a spot on the 2022 Preseason All-Southern Conference Team. In 2022, Potter started all 55 games she appeared in in 2022 posting a .262 batting average with 22 RBI and a .363 slugging percentage.
Potter is a native of Largo, Fla., and attended Seminole High School. She was a four-time letter winner for Coach Mark Deruzzo and a three-time MVP. Potter earned First Team All-District 7, Second Team All-Region and was a Florida 8A All-State honorable mention in 2019. Potter was also a three-sport athlete as she competed in volleyball and basketball as well.
Potter plans to complete her degree in public health while in Tallahassee. She was named to the Southern Conference Academic Honor Roll multiple times while at Mercer.
