FSU sports information:

The No. 7 Florida State beach volleyball team heads west to San Luis Obispo, Calif., this weekend for the Center of Effort Challenge, the Noles’ final tournament of the regular season. The Seminoles will face three top-10 opponents in No. 6 Southern California, No. 5 Stanford and No. 3 Cal Poly.

Florida State enters the weekend after a strong showing at home in the Unconquered Invitational, posting a 4-1 record. The Seminoles earned wins over No. 10 LSU, No. 15 Florida Atlantic, USF, and South Carolina, with their lone loss coming against No. 8 Texas. Gella Andrew and Maddie Trusty went undefeated on courts one and two, while Alexis Durish and Audrey Koenig went 4-0 on court one, improving their season record to 23-5. FSU’s top two pairs look to carry that momentum into the weekend.

The Seminoles open play Friday against No. 6 USC in a rematch from March 28, where FSU edged the Trojans 3-2 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. USC, the four-time defending national champion, enters the tournament riding a five-match win streak and holding a 20-6 record in 2025. The Trojans lead the all-time series against Florida State 21-6, winning eight of the last 10 meetings.

Later on Friday, Florida State will face No. 5 Stanford. The Cardinal are coming off a 3-1 weekend at the Best of the West Tournament, notching wins over North Florida, No. 19 Washington, and No. 11 Long Beach State, with their only loss coming to USC. Stanford topped FSU 3-2 in their last meeting and holds a 2-1 edge in the all-time series.

FSU wraps up pool play Saturday against host No. 3 Cal Poly. This marks the first meeting between the two programs this season. The Seminoles lead the all-time series 10-1, though Cal Poly claimed the most recent matchup with a 3-1 victory in last year’s NCAA quarterfinals. The Mustangs are 21-3 this season, undefeated at home, and are coming off a 5-1 weekend at the Best in the West Tournament with wins over five ranked teams.

Florida State will open play on Friday against USC at 1 p.m. Eastern Time, followed by Stanford at 6 p.m. On Saturday, the Seminoles will play Cal Poly at 2:30 p.m. and then a fourth dual against an opponent determined by the first three duals. The finals will begin at 5 p.m. Live stats will be available on Seminoles.com.
